The Great Pyramid
The Great Pyramid is the tallest and most famous pyramid in the world!       The three pyramids in Giza (that includes the Great Pyramid)  are considered one of the seven wonders of the world.     Today, they are the only ones left! The Great pyramid is also open to the public!  It is 481 feet tall and it is estimated that it took 2.3 million blocks to build! A   guy named Herodotus visited the pyramid 2,700 years after it was built.  He estimated that 100,000 people built it.  Then late after that, some more people came to visit it.They thought that 20,000 people built it.  People believe that whoever built it probably hauled blocks up ramps stacking them all the way up to the top until it was finished! Nobody knows how many people built  it, or how.  It probably took them 20 years to build!  People found many things inside the Great Pyramid.  They found an axe, ceremonial dagger, corslet, diadem, a collar and a picture. The axe was made out of stone and copper.  It did not look like it was used for chopping wood, like we use axes for today.  It looked like a decoration that might have been hung up somewhere in the Great Pyramid.  The axe belonged to King Ahmose.  The ceremonial dagger also belonged to King Ahmose! The diadem looked like something  that the Egyptian would wear around there heads.  The collar was made out of
gold, felspar and carnelia. The picture was a carving of King Akhnaton and his family. There are believed to be three chambers inside the Great Pyramid That people know of.  the Kings chamber, the Queens chamber and the Unfinished chamber.  The Kings chamber is located in the middle of the pyramid.  King Khufu was buried in it.  If you look in the Kings chamber now, you will see scaffolding all around it.  They found no carvings, markings or hieroglyphics in the kings chamber.  The Queens chamber was a bit lower then the Kings chamber.  However, the  Queen never really got buried there.  It just got that name because people thought she was buried there!  The Unfinished chamber did not carry a body either.  Most likely the King changed his mind and decided to be buried in the body of the pyramid.  The Unfinished chamber was all  underground!
