The SnoCone is a huge cone of snow and ice that accumulates at the base of Yosemite Falls during the winter. Getting to the top and looking down inside as Yosemite Falls fell around me is one of the scariest things I've ever done.

Solo Ski across Sierras (about 40 miles) March 1973; via Snow Creek switchbacks, Tioga Road and Tioga Pass, 6 days.
I think I lost about 10 lbs.

Royal Arches, April 1973 w/ George Hall. Class 5.4 as I recall, w/ an unplanned bivouac at the top 'cuz I was so slow. Thanks for putting up with me, George.

Banner Peak (12,945' ) Aug 1973, solo.
Via north glacier & southwest slope, class 2.

John Muir Trail, September-October 1973. Don Morrison, Bob Wiggington and I made it most of the way along the famous 210-mile long trail which winds along the Sierra crest. We got bottled up for three days by an early winter storm near the Palisades and had to abort the trip without reaching Mt. Whitney.
