Mt. Stuart (9,415'), September 1976, with Nadim Melkonian. Climbed up the North Ridge, descended the Cascadian Couloir, then bivouaced without sleeping bags at the base of the Couloir. Cold nite in our parkas.
Ingalls Peak (7662'), September 1976, via south ridge, with Nadim Melkonian. I remember very nice rock and terrific views of Stuart across the valley.
Pyramid Mountain (8245'), October 1976, solo via trail.
Mt. Baker (10, 778'), March 1977, attempted winter ascent on skis with Will Miller. At about 9000', Will fell a few feet into a crevasse (we were unroped.) A few more feet and he fell in again. We decided to live: turned around and skied back down.

North Twin Sister (6570'), multiple ascents 1979-1983. The west ridge is a classic 3rd-class alpine climb; usually easiest to descend via the north slope.
Church Mountain (6315'), July 1979 or so. My friends Mike McDonald and his girlfriend wanted to get married at "Church", so they decided to hold the ceremony on the summit of Church Mountain. I'm a certified minister in the Universal Life Church, (I was ordained by the Reverend Kirby J. Hensley himself), so they invited me to be the minister. About 25 folks made it all the way to the top, where Mike and ____ shivered through their marriage vows in icy fog and zero visibility. I filled out all the paperwork and sent it to Washington State.

Mt. Shuksan (9127'), July 1988 via Fisher Chimneys with Seattle Mountaineers. Descending in early evening, Denise Daly fell on steep snow in the chimneys, breaking her back (no spinal cord damage), and then in the ensuing excitement, Jack Schneider slipped on steep snow and fell, breaking his knee. Two of our party climbed out that night and called the Sheriff. At first light, as we clutched steep ledges, a Coast Guard helicopter arrived. Hovering off the steep cliffs, it lowered rescue baskets via cable and raised the two injured climbers up into the helicopter; saved their lives (and I got incredible photos of the rescue.) |

Bonanza Peak (9511'), September 1988, via Mary Green Glacier route, with Jim Blessing. Just as we got off the glacier and started rock climbing, we were passed by another party who proceeded to shower us with falling rocks from above. I found out later their leader was the head of King County Mountain Rescue; what an asshole.
