Maybe I'm just clueless

... but I was looking for cattle mutilation stories at Linda Moulton Howe's frequently updated site Earth Files and at the end of the news roundup that includes everything from an alarming couple of reports on cat mutilations in San Diego and Austin, TX, I stumbled on this report about Gerald Celente's trend predictions for 2001. "We think we are going to be Ugly Americans for the foreseeable future because No. One, most Americans are myopic in their view of the outside world. And they are oblivious to the criticisms. They aren't going to find these criticisms on the nightly news where most people tune into. Secondly, there is this America right or wrong attitude." Considering how 2001 shaped up, them's prophetic words. Maybe I am clueless but it was pretty interesting reading.

Did they ever go away?

Years and years ago I interviewed Linda Moulton Howe, the fascinating reporter who investigated cattle mutilations for her spooky documentary "A Strange Harvest" and follow up book, An Alien Harvest. Now, cattle mutilations are back in the spotlight. I read a report in the Washington Post not too long ago and now the Great Falls Tribune has published a piece on a new flap. Read that here.

I could rant about the bizarre three monkeys blind-eye treatment the masters of this country are turning to certain "allies" who lie at the center of our present crisis, but I am a little ranted out right now. And I know SUVs and huge, monster SUVs have been in vogue for almost a decade now (with no signs of abating), but isn't that sort of, um, unpatriotic? One good thing the tragedy of Sept. 11 inspired is that Americans at large have begun to see that what they thought they knew was really only a tiny, microscopic pixel of the big picture. I include myself in that.

In the coming updates I am going to look into the whereabouts of some of the infamous figures from ufology past. What ever did happen to Paul Bennewitz anyway?
