This statement was given in 1832 when Samuel was 80 years old.
Either the scriber made the mistake, or Samuel's mind failed him when the year 1778 was entered. It is well documented that the attack was in 1779. Also, this statement serves as proof that Wells Fort and Rogers Fort was one in the same. The name was given in honor of Colonel George Wells.
