I don't exactly agree with Jay Scott and his quote, but I do appreciate his enthusiasm. This was a great film, but it seemed like two different films to me. The basic training sequences are what made this film. The actual war part of the film wasn't really that great, although it did have its moments. Plus, I believe that the war stuff was shot in England, since Kubrick didn't like to fly. Where ever it was shot, it wasn't Vietnam, or anywhere close for that matter. Nonetheless, this film is still damn good. In my book its a must see, a great example or contemporary Kubrick
