I SAW CREED LIVE!
I went to see Creed on February 16th, 2002 at the Excel Energy Center in St. Paul Minnesota.
It was the coolest thing I've ever seen.
The first act was Virgos, who are, as you may or may not know, Creed's gig bassist Brett Hestla's band. I thought they were pretty good, they were more metal than Creed. I reccommend downloading their songs "Ammunition" and "Silence" and maybe "Back to You".
After a short break for setting up, Tantric came up. They were awesome. They played a lot of songs, including one they just wrote and had never played before. When they played "Mourning", the third release off their CD, they asked everyone who had a lighter to get it out. Also, the lead singer did a stage dive during one of the songs which was pretty cool. If you're not really a fan of Tantric but wanna get into them, download "Mourning", "Breakdown", and "Astounded".
After what seemed like FOREVER, (actually it was only half an hour) the lights finally dimmed and Creed came on.
They opened with Bullets.
It was so high energy, the crowd was screaming and Creed played the shnit outta that song. There were a lot of fireworks. It was awesome. The lighting was perfect. After that they went right into "Freedom Fighter". It was so cool. They played "Who's Got My Back". When they played With Arms Wide Open, everyone went crazy. Everyone (including me) got out their lighters and was waving em all around. I myself almost burned my thumbs off, but after awhile I didn't feel it anymore. It was so amazing. Stapp has such a presence on stage, he's a really dynamic person and you could tell he was having such a good time. Mark Tremonti is amazing live, he improvises and jams with himself and is so awesome to watch. So is Scott Phillips, that guy gets really into it and has a lot of energy.
Stapp also played the guitar.
That was SO COOL of him, I knew he was learning guitar and I have a picture of him kinda sitting with a a guitar on my Picture Page for him. You can tell he's not GREAT at it, but he's getting there.
In every single song Creed played, the audience was singing almost louder than Scott was. It was awesome. By the end, when they played "My Sacrfice", every person in the audience was on their feet.
They didn't seem like they wanted to leave, but finally Creed got off the stage. Mark and Scott P. threw a ton of picks and stix out to the crowd in the standing room. That was the best concert ever.
When I walked outta there, I had tears in my eyes.
Or maybe it was just all the smoke.
Overall, on a scale of 1-10 (1 being the worst), I give Creed's Weathered performance a 20. It was so exhilirating to watch. I'm definitely going back when Creed comes again. You gotta see this live baby.
