Unlike Bethel, Kwethluk does not have a small boat harbor. People just run their boat onto the beach and park it there. We anchored our boat with driftwood on top of our anchor ;)
This is one of the churches in Kwethluk. It was the nicest building there that we saw.
View off the "main road"
The "main road". There are not many automobiles in Kwethluk. People mostly use 4 wheelers or walk. For that matter, there are more trails and boardwalks than there are "roads".
Allen & Aaron outside the village store. See the 4 wheelers? And the boardwalk... because the ground is really muddy... and uneven. It was difficult to walk around the areas where there was not a boardwalk.
Boardwalk picture...
Village playground
Aaron loves a prominent feature of the village... mud puddles
Allen & Aaron running through the puddles... Allen wanted to wear his "glasses" from the Mr. Potato Head to be like Daddy... Daddy's glasses fit better.
Trees on the riverbank on the way back from Bethel. We don't have trees in Bethel... ;) but here they are changing colors.
Allen & Aaron (the other hand) playing a game on the boat - they thought it was funny
Allen gives us a big smile
Looking out the back of the boat on the way back to Bethel
Kuskokwim River fish camp
Another fish camp... it's a seasonal activity. People will go live at their fish camps and fish/dry/smoke the fish/etc.
This is just a fun curiousity... a sailboat on the Kuskokwim River. The kids really liked it.
Allen & Allen right outside Bethel. We were glad to be back in our thriving metropolis after the successful, complication free boat trip!
