Lian and Morea
9/4/01- I have received Morea's Egg:):) From Dragon Rose Adoption:)
Lian lived on the side of
a dark and cold mountain, the sun couldn't make it to the other side
to let anything live. She often climbed to the other side to stretch herself
in the sun on a small ledge. She would sit and day dream and let herself
go into a helpless gaze of misery. She hated her family, all of them. She
was a middle child, of 6 kids, her twin sister and her mother being
the worst of them. Her father was always drunk and out some where. "LIAN"
she heard the faint mumble of her mother say, "GET HERE RIGHT NOW!!"
"Oh no, Oh no," Lian mumbled, "I am late,
I forgot supper, I'm dead"
Lian hurriedly stepped up the side of the
mountain knowing exactly where to put her feet,
"COMING," she shouted in a short breath.
She ran in the front door, breathing heavily,
her family was sat around the table all looking at her as if she was a
bug that just got smashed. Lian looked down at herself her dress
was old an warn, and it was dirty from laying on the ledge, she ran her
fingers through her hair and said,
"I will go get cleaned up, you don't have
to wait on me."
"No dear, you are going to serve dinner tonight,
your poor sister here had to make it, and it was your turn to do so," said
her mother in a menacingly way.
"Yes Lian, you better hurry up you wouldn't
want are dinner to get cold do you." said her twin sister Rita.
"Yes mother" Lian said obligingly. She hated
her life. It was empty and depressing. Lian looked at herself in the mirror,
most people would say she was pretty but she had low self a steam. Her
long brown wavy hair reached just below her shoulders, she had forest green
eyes and a olive complexion. Her skin was dirty and tan from the sun on
the ledge. She washed her face and hands in the water bucket than she tied
her hair in a knot. She looked at her self, her sister was always clean
and tidy, most of her life was spent like that. She would go off
to town and flirt with boys and be with her friends. Lian on the
other side was fun loving but shy, she loved to sit on the ledge and watch
the Rose Adoption dragons fly by, she loved dragons, she loved to watch
the graceful air dragons, or to see the earth dragons sneaking about in
the forest. She always wanted to go and bond one, but was scared to be
rejected. Lian walked into the kitchen her family was getting restless
and angry,
"Took you long enough," Rita said through
her thin pinched lips.
"The food is in the kitchen," her mom said.
Lian walked in the kitchen the door shut behind
her but she could still hear them through the flimsy wooden door of there
tiny cottage.
"Oh mom guess what," she heard her sister
said in a fake voice.
"What sweaty," her mom said.
Lian pressed her head to the door to hear
better.
"Toms going to the Dragon Rose Adoptions to
bond a dragon," Rita said happily, " can I go to, I think I want
to bond one as well, I mean everyone says I would make the perfect candidate!"
Lian jerked away from the door, stunned. She
had always wanted to go, she knew if her sister went than she would never
get to go and she would be the only one doing work around the house.
She figured now or never, she removed her apron and opened the window
and stepped out. It was a dark and chilly night, but she didn't care she
was leaving this horrid place in search of the Mountain where the eggs
and adoption was.
She arrived there several days later.
She had traveled from town to town, talking to no one. She had brought
little money, only what she had, had in her pocket. She could see the mountain
in the distance, it took her little time to get to it. She was a very strong
willed person, and if she wanted it badly enough she wouldn't stop till
she got it. when she got to the base of the mountain she peered up
to see a cave opening near the top. She looked along the base and saw rock
steps all the way up.
When she reached the top she peered
in the dark cave, there was a mirror that was catching the sunlight and
a clutch of eggs were being heated by the light. She looked around inside
it appeared to be empty,
"Hello," Lian said, "anyone here!?!"
"Oh sorry didn't here you," a girl said stepping
from what seemed to be the wall itself, "may I help you?" she said politely.
"Yea... I am here to bond a dragon." Lian
said almost timidly.
"Well take a pick she said pointing to the
ground where there was a clutch of colorful eggs."
Lian scanned her eyes across the ground, her
eyes caught hold of one egg in particular. The egg had been separated
from the clutch, she pointed at it and looked at the girl, "Why is
that egg all alone?" Lian asked concerned.
"Oh Morea, she was abandoned by her owner,
it's really sad. We found her in the woods just below the mountain right
after the owner took her, were not sure what breed she will be, but
she is sure a pretty egg and she should be something special, we are surprise
she hasn't hatched yet, I guess she is waiting for some one just right
to bond with." The girl said smiling back at her. Lian walked over to the
egg and knelled beside it, and laid a gentle hand upon the egg,
"I will take her," Lian said to the girl,
"Are you sure, an abandoned dragon it is a
lot of responsibility?" the girl asked Lian.
"Yes I am positive, she is what I have been
looking for I know it I will take special good care of her." Lian said
very sure of herself.
She could feel the warm heat of the egg below
her hand, she was what she had always dreamed of.
The girl looked at her and said, "Well than she's yours, please
take good care of her and she will soon become your best friend."
"Thank you, I will. Can I stay here tonight I don't have anywhere
to go, I will leave tomorrow, I promise?" Lian asked desperately.
"Sure you can stay, stay as long as you want, I will go find you
someplace to sleep." the girl answered. She began to leave the room but
was stopped by Lian,
"No, don't bother finding me a room, I will be glad to sleep on
the sands with Morea. I wouldn't want her hatching while I wasn't here."
Lian said. After the girl had left Lian sat next to Morea's egg,
and softly hummed.
After the last star had risen Lian curled up next to the egg
to keep it warm.
"I can't wait till you hatch." Lian mumbled to herself as she softly
drifted to sleep.
