1) Imagine you are living on a spaceship that has been sent out to colonize a far distant planet. The ship is a self-contained ecosystem, and several generations will pass before you reach your destination. Write a short story or a poem from the perspective of a third generation adolescent. How much does your character know about Earth? How much do they care? Why did their grandparents leave? Politcal, environmental or purely personal reasons? What is life like in this pilgrim society?
2) Go back in time to a critical point in your life. Imagine how things could have gone differently; how would you have changed? Write a short prose piece or a poem about this alternate �you.�
