Kerri Harris
Vivid coloration and contrasting gradients define the majority of pieces painted by Kerri Harris during much of her 15-year career as a mural artist and painter. Her style of painting is inspired by modern design and representational elements drawn from her experience as an illustrator and extensive background in cartooning. Although through much of her early studies, it was evident she did not take her work seriously, feeling the aesthetic qualities of painting alone were without purpose. These frustrations eventually lead to experimentation with mural painting. Inspired by the emotional pull and utter transformation achieved through mural work, Kerri Harris began a successful career as a mural artist. Her work conveys a sense of subjective realism and thoughtful portrayal of common subjects in a way that shapes its environment. Relying primarily on her client’s ambitions, her work is inspired by the intention of the design and the dramatic affects achieved through the final piece. Patrons have often expressed their experiences in a altered space as supremely meditative and tranquil. Kerri Harris is primarily a self-taught artist, gaining influence from local artisans during her many years living in Asia, and later, back in the United States, traveling the Eastern coast and Midwest. She had earned accolades in her youth and showed great promise during an early exhibition in Thailand and again in Hong Kong. Today, her patrons range from private buyers across the Midwest, Massachusetts, Virginia to local organizations dedicated to charitable works. During her time living abroad, Kerri gained exposure to various human conditions that would later dictate her ambitions to serve segments of the public that are overlooked by many artistic endeavors. Today, Kerri strives to provide artistic expression to economically depressed communities through donated works and charitable projects.
