Tom Bickman

Seasons

Blue, snow-capped spires
Parapets of gnarled rocks
Hunter sleeps alone
Loneliness season
Woodcutter squats to inhale
Shy serow jogs off
Snow crystals on path
Crunching under an iron heel
Her teal skirt silent
Frost covered trail
Crannies harbor cowberries
Lovers lift up arms
The first breath of Spring
So soon crabapple blossoms
Child stoops to lace shoe
Soft apple blossoms
Below Mt. Hotaka’s stones
Song bird amazed
Raindrop ornaments
On his muse’s long black mane
Speck on old goat’s soul
