Flash Cards

Directions:

  1. Open Microsoft Word.
  2. Click on Tool in the Menu.
  3. Highlight Envelops and Labels.
  4. Envelope and Label window appears.
  5. Click on Options find the size needed for flash cards.
    *Suggest- 3111 Stickers
  6. Click Ok.
  7. Click New Document.

To Insert a Picture:

  1. Click Insert on the File Menu.
  2. Click Picture.
  3. See Clip art window.
  4. Click on a subject and find the clip art needed.
  5. Click on the clip art.
  6. See side menu click on the first choice.

Name Tags

Spreadsheet and Mail Merge

Directions for Student Information Spreadsheet in MS Excel:

  1. Open Excel.
  2. On sheet 1.
  3. Define the fields in the first row for master sheet.

Suggestions-

Last Name
First Name
Mother
Father
Address
Phone #
Adams Bob Ann Tim 121 Royal 890-0000
Baron Angela Betty Bob 87 First St. 904-0000

4. Insert the needed information.
5. Put rest pointer on sheet 1 then right click.
6. Click Move or Copy.
7. Click sheet 1 and place a check in the box for create a copy.
8. Click Ok
9. See in new sheet inserted in Book
10. Click File and save as (Save in My documents.)
11. Insert the name of the file, click save
12. Insert more fields in the new sheet

13. Insert the needed information in each cell.
14. Click File.
15. Click Save as (Save in My documents.)

Directions for Mail Merge:

1. Open Microsoft Word.
2. Create Letter - Leave Mother's name and party item to be brought blank.
3. Click File and Save as, name document and save.
4. Click Tools on the menu.
5. Click Mail Merge.
6. Click Create.
7. Click form letters.
8. Click active document.
9. Click get data.
10. Click open data source.
11. Click on the arrow in files on type.
12. Highlight Excel in menu items.
13. Find the Excel database in my documents.
14. Click Ok in the next window.
15. Click Edit main document.
16. Put your cursor where you want to insert the mother's name.
17. Click on Insert Merge field (Under the word normal.)
18. Highlight the 1st field that you want to insert into the document. (Mother Name)
19. Put the cursor where you want to insert the next words into the document (Last Name.)
20. Click on Insert Merge field (Under the word normal.)
21. Highlight the 2nd field that you want to insert into the document. (Last Name.)
22. Put the cursor within the document for the item to be brought for the party.
23. Click on Insert Merge field. (Under the word normal)
24. Highlight the 3rd field that you want to insert into the document. (Party Item)
25. Click Tools.
26. Click Mail Merge.
27. See mail merge window.
28. Click Merge.
29. Computer automatically inserts the student's mother's name, last name, and party item and creates a new letter for each child.

Download Clip art from the Internet

Directions:
1. Open Netscape Communicator.
2. Find the clip art you want to down load.
Hint- There is some clip art site on the Rutherford County Home page in Teacher Resources.
3. Right click on the picture.
4. Highlight and click save image as.
5. Save as window is displayed.
6. Click on the arrow next to save in highlight My Documents - to make sure you save the item in My Documents.
7. Click Save.
8. Open Microsoft Word.
9. Click insert.
10. Click Picture.
11. Click From File.
12. Find the clip art file in My Documents.
13. Click Open.
14. Clip art is inserted into document.
