| Phenomena which are explained by Ideology |
| The End of Ideology Ideology (a theory to explain what we don't understand or a worldview to help us understand the world around us) is no longer needed. Our caveman ancestors needed a cosmology to explain the little lights above their heads. The world of Ptolemy eagerly accepted the earth-centered view of the universe (with its complicated system of retrograding planets). But the more we know about the world around us, the less we need an ideology or cosmosology to explain or anticipate what we don't know. Since we know what causes the gender of a baby and how a baby is made, we don't need a theory about storks to explain the origins and gender of the baby. The Center for Creating the Future aims to promote critical thinking, expose lazy or disingenous arguments, and encourage honest discussions. What would we say if we could forget, for a moment, the interest groups that we represent? What would a visitor from another planet observe? How can we look with unbiased eyes? Some quotes: "Technology trumps ideology." (It's irrelevant whether you believe in capitalism, socialism or Marxism. Technology removes the question.) The people who have the power don't have time to contemplate; The people who have the time to comtemplate don't have the power. (--adapted from Newt Gingrich) A mind, like an umbrella, works best when open. |
