All wildlife in Australia are in some way protected under the Wildlife Act 1975 and the Wildlife Regulations 1992 plus any other applicable amendments.

For Bearded Dragons to be kept in Victoria legaly you need a schedule 1 licence. This licence enables you to keep, breed, sell, and dispose of Bearded Dragons (and other reptiles). Although you cannot sell any Bearded Drangon's (or other reptiles) unless you have had them for at leat six months. Even if you purchase a licence this in no way means that you can take Bearded Dragons from the wild (even if dead) or release captivated ones in to the wild. If you wish to do any of those you will need to recieve written permission from the secretary of Departement of Natural Resources and Environment (DNRE). You also need to be over the age of ten to apply for a licence. All Bearded's must remain at the place of residency listed on your licence unless traveling to a place of legal trade or a vet. Once you recieve your licence you will be required to keep a record book this is used to record transactions and anything else of such relavency (failure to do so is an offence under the Wildlife regulations act 1975).
