A Day in the Life of a Wolf |

It is still before sun-up. I am the Alpha male of the wolf pack, and I'm at the top of the pack's hierarchy. It is almost time to start the hunt. I am picking up the scent of some grazing musk oxen, probably about six miles away. Now, I feel it is time to wake the others. I am going to howl to let the others know there is food nearby. The two pups that were born about a month and a half ago are now awake. The pups have awakened their mother and their older brother. The only remaining member that is yet to wake is their uncle. Nevermind their uncle is awake now; time to begin the hunt. |

Everybody in the pack will now leave to hunt except the mother and her two pups. The other two adult pack members and I are leaving to go after the musk oxen. We are following the musk oxen?s scent, but as we are pursuing them they are moving also. We have walked about fifteen miles away from our rendezvous site. The sun is high above our heads, so I'm guessing it is about noon. I have spotted the musk oxen. I'm licking my lips. The oxen look good to me and my carnivorous friends. The other two members and I have succeeded in taking down a calf. We are beginning to feast. Ahh, that was good. I ate first then the other two members. We just finished, and are starting back to the rendezvous site. |

Now that we'back we're going to regurgitate the meat for the pups. They seem to enjoy it. Judging by the position of the sun, it's probably about six or seven o?clock . It has been another day in our lives, and as the sun sets we are all happy. |
