A Movie from Cartoon Series
When I was younger, I loved to watch cartoons and read comic books. Although I watched many cartoons and read comics, there was one cartoon in particular that caught my attention the most. I remember watching transformers with my cousins back I think 93 to 95, my aunts used to watch a series during Saturday and after that we battled our childhood rights to switch the channel to RPN 9 and watch Transformers. It was  a science fiction cartoon story about robotic life forms. It came Saturday, and I tried not to ever miss an episode.
At that time, the Transformers was the most exciting and important thing in my life as a childhood. I always begged on my mom to buy me some Transformers toy robot repacked in colorful artwork and comics. Imagine, buying a toy robot which also is transformable into a certain vehicle or animal such as an Insecticon or a Dinobot. Whose child won't ignore this coolest stuff, especially when it was your favorite cartoon show.
I couldn't believe it, from comics to cartoon, and now a movie. I have been waiting for this film since I was a kid, and after 17 years, my childhood finally rolls out with me. I have watched the two times. First, with my cousin when we visit Virginia Beach, second, is with my friends here in Hampton,  Virginia. Also, I did watch the latest series episode from DVD and I really enjoyed it.
In the film's first moments, and from the cartoon series and comics story that I have read and watched, autobots gett out of an energy-drought Cybertron to find new sources of energon, Megatron followed the Ark (autobot main ship) to earth with his own ship ( the Nemesis). This time in the movie Megatron got first to earth first following the cube (Cybertron's life source) and crash-landed on the North pole. From the first episode, the Ark crash landed on a desert not far from the Nemesis crash site, it turned out to be Oregon state depicted in the comics, there are mentions of the Hoover Dam and the Arctic just like in the movie. The storyline, which revived Skyfire from the Arctic, is where I think the movie got that idea, and the Hoover Dam which Megatron first attacked on earth, is also a borrowed idea. It is difficult to make such setting and an enormous character development especially from an animated series to a movie that's why I appreciate Spielberg and Bay's work to complete this one. The animation's storyline is kind of kiddy, but the movie somehow took that kiddiness into something thick and intensely serious.
The Autobots (good guys) and Decepticons (bad guys) have been waging war against each other for a long time. The "All-Spark" apparently came to earth a long time ago, and Megatron (the leader of the Decepticons) came after it, because it's a source of unlimited power, and whoever wields the All-Spark will win the war. Thrust into the middle of this battle is Sam Witwicky (ShiaLaBeouf), a somewhat gawky teen who wants to impress the hot girl (Megan Fox) with his new used car - which just happens to be an Autobot in disguise.
The leader of the Autobots is Optimus Prime (voiced by Petter Cullen), and together they all try to find the All-Spark before the Decepticons can get their hands on it. There's a whole parallel story in the meantime involving the U.S. military, and their attempts to figure out what is going on.
The storylines covered a lot of actions. The visual effects are stunning, although it's sometimes difficult to tell what's happening when the robots battle when the wheels, glass and metal bang around. Some of the Autobots, such as Bumblebee and leader Optimus Prime, are a treat. And the relationship that develops between Bumblebee and Sam is one of the movie's high points.
A Paramount released of a Dream Works Pictures. Produced by Lorenzo di Bueneventura, Tom DeSanto, Don Murphy, Ian Bryce. Directed by Michael Bay. "If its true that there's an 8-year old boy inside every man, "Transformers" is just the ticket to bring the kid out."(Jay Weissberg).
