| My passion for Physics Physics, oh thats boring uninteresting stuff, I hear you say...well, those of you that believe this, from my point of view at least, are all WRONG! I have had an interest of some sort or another in the field of Physics for a long time, probably since the time my father first gave me a small hand-made wooden box, into which some old car dashboard warning lights were built, together with some appropriate old toggle type switches for switching the lights on and off until I was content or bored, whichever came first. After that I started asking my father for more boxes with more lights, with more colours, together with even more switches, and so on...then there were the times that I was curious about how the television worked in our lounge, or rather how the electricity got from the wall to the television via a wire, of course I had to unplugg the thing from the wall and unfortunately, naively touched the inside of the connecting socket...while it was still connected to the mains...unfortunately, no pictures or test signals were present in my eyes (or visible through any other part of my body) I just felt a sharp tingle through my fingers which of course shocked me and I dropped the thing straight on the floor...I had of course experienced my first electric shock, and of no fault of my parents who have always been very concerned and caring of my wellbeing, it was just that I was curious about how it worked! This was "The Beginning..." as of course the whole meaning of Physics is basically "how things work". The term Physics is generally a new term in the new English language, and in fact the same field, apart from some slight differences, was formerly known as "Natural Philosophy" (The Study of the workings of Nature). What could be more interesting in fact, than learning how things work, for example why we actually stay on the ground instead of floating off into the sky and then further into space and beyond, or a bit more complicated, where does light come from and how does it actually work? These are just two of thousands of questions that have been asked and answered, or partially answered over centuries of curiousity and intrigue. Interested yet?
