Part 1

Spirits create a world. Without spirits a world dies. Especially without the four world spirits, the spirits of Water, Wind, Earth and Fire. Everything is created by spirits but these four create the very properties that a world thrives on. This world is Djinova, a beautiful world spiralling through time. Under the guidance and control of the spirits that inhabit it the most powerful being the world spirits. However, it was not only the spirits which inhabited this beautiful world.

Catriona walked down through the Gardens of Terra. The flowers nodded gently in the breeze as she passed them. Everything was perfect in the gardens. As usual." Of course" thought Catriona, "the Earth Spirit wouldn't let her gardens die." For the Gardens of Terra were the Earth Spirits gardens. The flowers always bloomed, no matter what the weather. The residents of the
Earth Kingdom were lucky, Catriona supposed.  The Earth Spirit looked after her lands.

Each Spirit had their own quarter of the World, the quarter which housed a monument to them. The Earths monument was the Gardens of Terra. Long ago the spirits chose their own quarter of Djinova to become the main guardian of. These quarters, or Kingdoms, were named after the Spirit that ruled them. Catriona often wondered what the other Kingdoms looked like, whether they were as well kept as the
Earth Kingdom.

A glimmer flashed through the trees, jolting Catriona out of her thoughts. Probably a Spirit. But. The "but" stuck in her mind, the glimmer had looked like a travelling spirit, possibly one of the lesser spirits. But it was the sudden stillness that struck Catriona as strange. A departing spirit never makes the Gardens seem so lifeless. And the Earth Spirit never really left. Catriona shook her head. "Lifeless?" How could the gardens look lifeless? She could see life everywhere, but the feeling was lifeless. Angrily, Catriona shook her head again. She shouldn't think like that! She ran back to town. It was all in her imagination. She was just willing something to happen.

But was she? As she arrived back at the town everything seemed different from when she left, almost like something was missing. She trembled slightly. What was going on? Suddenly, she felt a slight tremor run through the rock below her. She wondered for a moment if she had imagined it. No one else seemed to have noticed. Feeling distinctly nervous, Catriona headed home.

However, when she entered her house she knew something was wrong. She had been gone for a whole day. Normally her mother would shout at her for vanishing without a trace. But today she didn't. Disturbed, Catriona headed to bed.

Next day she rose, determined to find out what had happened. She headed outside. Everything seemed normal though. Bewildered, Catriona stopped. Had she imagined it after all? She headed dejectedly for the gardens. She always found she could think better in the gardens. She wandered through the paths, lost in thought, noticing nothing around her. Suddenly a sobbing noise reached her ears, surprised anyone could be unhappy in the gardens she looked up. She gasped. Everything was dead. The flowers. The trees. Everything.
