With one detective dead and Joel Dignam the only suspect, who doesn't remember what happened or how he got there,  Eames and Goren must work to try and clear his name. However in doing so they may discover the true reason why Joel was out there. Logan meanwhile makes a new friend.

While a school shooting leaves numerous wounded, Joel excuses himself from the case to tend to his sister Julianne one of the more critically wounded. However as Logan and Goren attempt to work together, the fact of an unwanted pregnancy is  brought into the equation and a reason for a stupid act of violence is discovered.

With her not willing to open up to the others, Lexie Moriarty is faced with  bringing  her ex-husband into the case when it’s revealed that an arsonist is suffering from Bipolar Disorder. But when he’s brought in and the fires don’t stop, Lexie and the others are racing against the clock to find the reason why.

You can never knock a Dignam down, right? Receiving word that his father was approved for parole, Joel is forced to confide with the others of  his parents pasts. However while it seems like his father is going to go clean, Joel discovers a long line of murders pointing to his father and a con in prison. And as the line grows longer Joel and his sister are soon placed on that list leaving Logan, Eames, Goren, and Wheeler to try and save his hide.llector--before all die of starvation and dehydration.
