Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
Rating:
PG for "scary moments" I personally think this is a good rating
Grade:
B
Plot:
Its Harry's second year at Hogwarts, the wizarding school.  Someone has opened the legendary Chamber of Secrets and now a monster is going around petrifying students, cats, and ghosts.  Even worse, there's a house elf who's trying to keep Harry away from Hogwarts and an annoying teacher who's also a celebrity.  Harry's gotta save the day, after all, everyone thinks its Harry who opened up the Chamber.
Cast:
Danielle Radcliffe (I personally think he's the suckiest Harry ever, but he did improve since the last time), Rupert Grint (probably the best actor out of the bunch of kids, still, it freaks me out because he looks exactly like my little brother), Emma Watson (Also improved since last time), Kenneth Branagh (Its weird, because he usually plays evil Shakespearean guys like Iago, but here he is playing the light hearted Gilderoy Lockheart)  The rest of the cast is fairly good, Alan Rickman makes a great Snape!
The Good:
MUCH BETTER THAN THE FIRST! I hated the first movie, so this isn't really saying too much, but really all the acting was better and there were even a few really good one-liners that weren't in the book.
The Bad:
It's still nothing compared to the book, but hopefully the movies will continue to get better (the next one will have a different director, so we'll see)  I really need to gripe about the monster designs though.  Dobby, the elf, is entire done by computer, and I think it would have been preferable if they had used a puppet.  You can ALWAYS tell that he doesn't belong in the scene.  The same goes for the basilisk (although I believe they used a puppet on the close up shots)  The Phoenix looked okay, but was a little too orange (I always imagine them like they look in Fushigi Yugi, this one just kinda looked like an orange vulture)  The pixies were the worst.  I don't know how other people imagine them, but I always thought of them as being like little miniature people with wings (sort of like Tinkerbell, but smaller)  Instead, we get these blue gremlin things than look like they're made of play-doh.  Hopefully they'll get a better (in other words--good) monster designer, cuz these ones absolutely suck!
Kenneth Branagh...I still can only imagine him as Iago, tho
how fake does that look to you?
Daredevil
Rating
PG-13
Grade
B+ (surprisingly enough, it wasn't the worst movie ever)
Plot
A blind man gains near-superhuman powers because of his disability and fights crime using his kick-ass-ness.  Falls in love with a girl, fights a bad guy, cliched Cowboy Bebop style fight scene in a church.
Cast
Ben Affleck, that chick from Alias, and some other people...grrr....
The Good
It was very dark and evil.  It wasn't as happy or upbeat as Spiderman, and i liked it more because of that
The Bad
I just couldn't believe Ben Affleck as a blind man...
