| Comic Book Reviews This is the place for American comics only! All Japanese comics will be under the manga section. Johnny the Homocidal Maniac By: God...I mean...Jhonen Vasquez Grade: A Plot: Johnny (That's Nny for short) is a crazy guy who kills people who piss him off and just get in his way. Watch him as he attempts to kill his new girlfriend, clean out his refridgerator, and blow up a cafe. Also includes the Meanwhile comics (featuring topics that include chicken screwing, shit, demonic crossing guards, and Jhonen himself) and Happy Noodle Boy (a crappy nonsensical stick figure who yells at people) Good stuff: Very funny (especially when Nny kills really mean people) there's also a lot of thought inducing stuff about Johnny's insanity...that is, thought inducing for the people who don't just skip through it to the next slashing. Plus there's satan, talking styrofoam doughboys, a bunny stuck on a nail, and a gigantic wall monster. Bad stuff: Excessively violent!!!! Do not read this if you are bothered by blood and gore (even if it is black and white) there's also a lot of cursing going on. Even so, this is a really good comic that not just goths will enjoy (plus Nny kills a few goths anyway...) |

| Lenore By: Roman Dirge Grade: A+ Plot: Lenore is a cute little naive dead girl who gets into a bunch of adventures (some involving a vampire stuck in a doll, Little bunny foo foo, and a magic show) There are also some new takes on old poems as well as new poems by Roman Dirge (in comic form, of course) Good stuff: very funny and cute. I also love the artwork. Bad stuff: Although Lenore is just a cute little dead girl, she does accidentally kill a few people and animals...its nothing like JTHM, though. |
