Sango was raised to be a demon exterminator, and she's a darn good one. Her father and brother, Kohaku, were killed by Naraku (well, he wasn't the one who DID the killing, but he PLANNED the killing), but Naraku brought Kohaku back to life with a Shikon shard, and Kohaku is now one of Naraku's little puppets. Sango was also supposed to be killed, but she survived. Her village, at the same time, was also destroyed.

She was deceived to think that Inuyasha had been the one who had destroyed her village, and, despite her grave injuries, had set off to avenge them and kill the half-demon. She later realizes that she was deceived, and after her injuries were healed, joins the Inuyasha-tachi.

Sango is a pretty even-tempered, practical girl. She probably wouldn't be classified as a normal girl, though, as she was a demon exterminator , and there weren't really plenty of female exterminators back then (not to be sexist or anything, cuz hey, I'm a girl; it's just a fact). She has a little pet demon named Kirara, and she has a huge (".. big ass boomerang," to quote Nick) boomerang called Hiraikotsu, or, as translated in the Viz manga, Boomerang Bone. It's her main weapon.

Later on in the series, a little romance relationship develops between her and the perverted monk, Miroku. She always gets jealous when he hits on girls, and Miroku always pays the dear consequences, and she always gets pissed off when he gropes her, and he also has to pay the consequences. However, it's plain to see that they both like (maybe even love ) each other.
