Reviews and Ratings: Marmalade Boy (Volume 5)

Reviewer: ~*!fireblaze~*!

Overall Grade: A

Volume 5 of Marmalade Boy concludes the confrontation of Miwa Yoshimitsu, whom every one thinks is Yuu's real father. However, it isn't true. Yoshimitsu is not Yuu's dad, leaving Yuu feeling stupid and sad.

Yuu goes to the beach to mull things over, and Miki follows. Yuu then vents every thing out to her: How he was so convinced that Yoshimitsu was his dad, and that Satoshi was his brother . . he cries on Miki's shoulder.

They're starting to walk back home, but Yuu then starts talking about their parents' crazy marriage and how he became "an emotional stone." He goes on to say that unlike him, Miki is "pure and passionate" and how she has no problem telling every one how she is feeling. He smiles at her and says, "That's why ... I love you."

Miki of course tells Yuu she loves him back, but Yuu calls her an idiot and not to say things she doesn't mean. Miki tells him that he is the one she truly loves. They kiss.

The next day, they're both sick.

During Christmas, Miki gets Yuu some gloves, and Yuu gets Miki a pretty bracelet with three pearls in a row.

Skipping on to the more major parts, Yuu is, well, "forced," to act in a commercial with this cute new model, Suzu Suzakawa, who is Miwa (Satoshi)'s cousin. He attracts her attention, and she gets a crush on him. Miki gets jealous.

Later on, Yuu tells Miki that he is planning to go on a short vacation to check out some architecture. Miki wants to go as well, and Yuu agrees. Yuu tells her that he is going to pay, but Miki wants to pay for herself, and she starts to work in an ice-cream shop. There, she attracts the attention of a co-worker. She drops the bracelet Yuu gives her, and the co-worker picks it up.

And so ends Volume 5.

Let me tell you, this volume was kawaii . C-U-T-E. *::gushes::* Kawaii desu!

Loads and loads of totally kawaii Yuu+Miki moments. If you're a Yuu+Miki fan, this is a must for you.

The story, overall, was good. I can understand how Yuu must be feeling after finding out the one he thought was his dad wasn't, and how disappointing it must have been. Their whole relationship just gets more complicated each time. The only thing that bothered me in this volume was some of the Yuu+Miki moments.. now, don't get me wrong, I *love* cuteness and fluff and all of that... but I dunno, some moments were just kinda, well, cheesy.. *::shrugs::* but hey, that's just my opinion.

I like Wataru Yoshimizu's artwork! ^.^ She draws so pretty-fully.. @_@

This manga is different from the ones I've been getting into lately... because lately, I've been getting into mangas that are more action type.. as in Inuyasha, Rurouni Kenshin.. you get the picture (However, they still have *some* romance!). Marmalade Boy is a romantic comedy, filled with great romance and funny comedy. It's a wonderful shouj manga!
