Hah, as if I could give anything less! ~.^ Inu-Yasha is one of my most favorite, favorite, favorite manga. Another super manga by the famed Rumiko Takahashi, Inu-Yasha is a story of a girl named Higurashi Kagome who, one day, gets pulled into this well by this demonic creature called Lady Centipede. When she emerges from the well, she finds herself back in time, in the era of the "Warring States" in Japan's Muromachi Period (Sengoku Jidai). There, she finds this half-demon pinned to a tree by an arrow. The demon wakes up when he sees her, and thinks that she is the very same girl who had pinned him to that tree 50 years ago. Kagome has absolutely no idea what he's talking about, and that Lady Centipede is coming, trying to kill her. She cuts her, I think, and this Jewel of Four Souls (Shikon no Tama) comes out from the cut. Lady Centipede takes the jewel, and is right about to kill Kagome. Left without a choice, Kagome removes the arrow from that demon, named Inu-Yasha, and Inu-Yasha easily defeats Lady Centipede.
Now, Inu-Yasha is after this Shikon no Tama as well, as it grants any demon or human imaginable power. Kagome has it now, and he's threatening her. However, the village elder, Kaede, places these prayer beads on Inu-Yasha's neck, and from now on, whenever Kagome says the word "sit", Inu-Yasha immediately falls to the floor, face-first, stomach-first, with a painful back.
Later on, this crow demon steals the jewel, and swallows it, so now he's immortal. Of course, Inu-Yasha goes after the demon, and Kagome goes along. Inu-Yasha manages to slice its leg off, and Kagome takes the leg, and with a bow and arrow, shoots it, and because of the Shikon's regeneration power, its leg is attracted to the rest of his body, and the arrow pierces the demon. However, that's not all that happens...
As Kagome shot the arrow, the arrow also pierced the Shikon no Tama, and the shards of the jewel have spread out every where.
And so, Inu-Yasha goes off on a quest to find the Shikon no Tama for himself. He's half-demon, as I've said, and he wants the jewel so he can become a full demon. But he can't see the jewel shards. But, Kagome can ..
So, yeah, you guessed it. Two people who don't really like each other (they get into fights over little things) are stuck together on a quest. And off they go on the adventure of a lifetime!! (heh, don't worry, it's not as bad as I make it sound >.<)
The artwork of Takahashi-sama is pretty decent and good, the plot is wonderful, the story is well-written, and there are those almost-cute moments between Inu-Yasha and Kagome! ^^ And of course, later on, some cute and funny moments with the perverted monk Miroku, and the demon exterminator Sango. I just really love this manga! There ARE some bloody scenes, with graphic violence and foul language (hey, Inuyasha's a potty mouth, what can I say?), so if you aren't a fan of any of those, this probably isn't the manga for you ... but if those things don't bother you, go ahead, give Inu-Yasha a try!
