Before I go into their music I think it's important to explain what visual kei is. "Visual kei is a phenomenon, usually related to Japanese rock music, or J-rock for short, can range from playful to hardcore, but it is certain that the Japanese music scene is always willing to try new things...Members of visual kei bands often wear striking makeup, style their hair with desparate but meticulously done dyes, and wear elaborate costumes. Visual kei being based upon visual style, is a genre of band but not a genre of music"(http://encyclopedia.thefreedictionary.com) Ok, now your looking at the pic going "they look like a normal rock band." Well, yeah. Now, they have grown away from the visual scene as years have progressed. The images at the bottom of this page will show you some of their previous styles.
Enough about their looks, on to their music! They are a rock band! Some people have compared them to Rob Zombie. I don't really agree with this, but a lot of people seem to. The first song I heard from them was Child Prey. I didn't know it was a Japanese band at first. There are some english lyrics in this song. "Kiss me, Kill me, Love me" It remains one of my favorite songs, and I heard it two years ago. Kyo's lyrics can be quite disturbing, if you ever go look up the translatons. This is one of the reasons I love them. They aren't afraid to talk about issues people find taboo. These guys have an amazing talent and I hope they continue for many more years.
