Case Closed FAQ

General Questions

Q: How many episodes of Case Closed are there?
A: There are at least 58 translated episodes of Case Closed. Only 49 have thus far been aired on Adult Swim, down from the 52 episodes they originally planned. Only Episodes 1-4 and 53-55 are currently available on dvd.

Q: How many episodes of Detective Conan have been made?
A: At least 12 seasons with 373 episodes have been made, and the show is still being aired. There have also been at least 8 feature length movies created.

Q: Why did Cartoon Network not show the 3 episodes they originally announced they would? A: Your guess is as good as mine. They mixed up the order of a few of the shows a bit as well, meaning several Next Conan Hints were incorrect.

Q: Will Cartoon Network show any more new episodes? If so, when? A: Right now they do not plan on aquiring anymore episodes. Unless they have a major change of heart, further Case Closed episodes will only be available on DVD. If the fans keep up the demand, there's no telling how many episodes Funimation will release on DVD.

Q: When does Case Closed come on? A: Case Closed premiered at 12:30 AM, but it has been pushed back to 1:00 AM to allow for the return of the extremely popular Inuyasha. Since I usually return from work around 12:15, this allowed me to never miss the show and get ready to take better notes, so I'm not complaining.

Q: Is Case Closed Americanized?
A: This is a pretty obvious one and one addressed on the front page. Case Closed's character names have all been changed and it has been translated, but other than that I am not aware of any changes from the original, but then again I haven't watched the original. Alot of uniquely Japanese culture does show up throughout the show and they are not attempted to be shown as American. Case Closed alerts you that this is happening to Japanese people living in Japan.

Q: Is Case Closed edited or censored?
A: The begining and ending credits are usually cut short for time. As for actual content editing, they show blood, deaths, and some fairly nasty crime scenes. I can't imagine that this show would have originally had anything worse than that crop up. The only downside is that Case Closed will not be shown except on Adult Swim because the constant murders would never pass the guidelines of daytime tv.

Q: Why can't I veiw your episode guide?

A: Geocities has bandwidth restrictions, so if too many people are looking at the show, the site is temporarily shut down. Check back in an hour or so or during a less busy time and it should be working again.

Warning: Spoilers

Q: What happened to Jimmy Kudo's parents?

A: Jimmy's parents are Booker and Vivian Kudo. Booker is a famous novelist who moved abroad with Vivian 3 years prior to Jimmy being shrunken. He had kept up with them over the phone, but after Jimmy became Conan and stopped calling, they found out from Dr. Agasa what had happened to him.

Q: What did Jimmy tell everyone to explain why he is missing?

A: Originally, Jimmy just disappeared and only Dr. Agasa knew that he had turned into Conan. After he learned that Rachel was seriously distraut over his absence, Conan used his voice changing bowtie to call Rachel and explain that he was busy with a big case and would be gone for a while. Using several carefully planned instances, he managed to convince Rachel that he was still around, just too busy to stay for long.

Q: Will Conan ever find the organization who shrunk him? Will he ever be returned to normal size?

A: As of episode 49, he has not found the men in black. He has returned briefly to his normal self after drinking alcohol, but the effects quickly wore off.
