| We're Supposed To Be Narrow-Minded Nope. You're wrong. Just kidding with the 'tude. Anyways, we are called to test everything to prove it true or false, and to not judge someone (and something) by it's appearance. Knowledge, understanding, and wisdom are celebrated. And narrow-mindedness is unloving besides. We have our morals and ethics, but love dictates respect and tolerance. We're Supposed To Be Homophobic While we believe due to a supernaturally ordained order in the universe that men are only supposed to have sex with women, we still have to love EVERYONE. Tolerance and respect. Not gay-bashing. Besides, people who do are commiting a sin too and they need to think about that first. And by the way, I'm a non-practicing bisexual. I believe you can choose, be driven into it (by abuse), or just be born that way. I was. Homosexual practice is a sin, not the state of being a homosexual. We Are Supposed To Conform Only to the ethical character of Christ. Our personalities are God-given because He loves diversity. Go online and search for all the species of a certain thing. A lot of them, eh? Same way it should be with humans - God has to be consistent. The Bible states that we are allowed to form our own personal convictions on matters not explicity discussed therein. The requirements are that we don't fight, judge or condemn about them and that whatever is being done is to the glory of God. Ex. If you choose to be goth, don't fight with people who don't agree with you about it and try to set a good example. We're Prudes No. While we are required to not be over-sexed, or lustful (due to the fact of it being degrading to the person lusted after, who is created in God's image), sexual union and physical beauty are exalted in the Scriptures, especially in the Song of Songs. Sensuality and eroticism from a loving heart directed at someone is acceptable and endorsed. The Dark Is Bad To Us While darkness is used as a euphemism for evil in the Bible, this is only concerning sin and such. A dark aesthetic is never condemned. In fact, a few instances of dark humor and melancholy poetry appear in the Bible. Psalm 88 doesn't even have a happy ending! If it were a sin to write down something dark or morbid, the Bible would be utterly sinful. |
