Mini Bio
Elijah Jordan Wood was born January 28th, 1981 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to parents Debbie and Warren who are now divorced. Elijah has a brother named Zack (who's 7 years older) and a sister named Hannah (who is two years younger). He has two dogs named Rascal and Levonne.
Elijah showed a knack for entertaining at an early age and his mother took him to Los Angeles for an Annual Internatioanl Modeling and Talent Association Convention. At first, Elijah landed jobs in many commericals and then broke in with small parts on television. His first major role was in the movie Avalon in 1990. Elijah's carreer shot off from there, when he landed roles in Paradise, Radio Flyer and Forever Young with Mel Gibson. After playing "Mark" in The Good Son opposite 'bad son' Macaulay Culkin, Elijah starred in North, a movie about a boy searching for the perfect parents. Although North was a flop at the box office, critics praised Elijah in that he was the only good thing to come out of that movie. In 1996, Elijah starred in the movie remake of the old TV show, Flipper. That movie seemed to catupolt him back into the public eye. He appeared in countless movies after Flipper and increased his power on the screen. Critics wondered if Elijah would fall into the statistic of being a 'child actor' but Elijah seemed stronger than the rest. This was proven when Elijah appeared in Deep Impact and The Faculty in 1998.
In 1999, Elijah was in the three movies that never made it to wide release in theaters: Black and White in 1999 (which can be seen on HBO), The Bumblebee Flies Anyway in 2000 (available on home video) and Chain of Fools (which has yet to be released ANYWHERE) also in 2000.
Elijah then set to work on what has been called the biggest project ever to hit movies: The Lord of the Rings trilogy based on the novels by J.R.R. Tolkien.
Elijah plays hobbit, Frodo Baggins, the star of the films. The Fellowship was released in 2001 and the Two Towers will be out December 2002. Return of the King is set to be in theaters December 2003. All of the movies were shot at once, on location in New Zealand.
Because of Lord of the Rings, Elijah's popularity went through the roof. He is getting more media attention than he ever has before. But it doesn't seem to phase him.
