Mini Bio
Dominic Monaghan, or Dom for short, was born December 8th in the year 1976 in Berlin, Germany. He and his family (parents and older brother) moved to England when Dom was twelve. Dom speaks fluent German, English (obviously) and has a knack for impersonations and accents. (Showcased on the Fellowship of the Ring extended DVD). Dom’s family currently lives in Manchester while Dom himself resides in Los Angeles. Dom often returns home, however, for he is a huge fan of Manchester United.
Dom is best known so far as Merry Brandybuck in Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings trilogy, but before that he was in the British television drama Hetty Wainthropp Investigates playing a young detective type. He was studying English Literature, Drama and Geography at Sixth Form College when he was offered the co-starring role in the series, which ran for four seasons.
The stage has also been home to Dom; he has performed in the world premiere UK production of The Resurrectionists, Whale and Annie and Fanny from Bolton to Rome.
Since watching Star Wars when he was six years old, Dom has been consumed by films. His other obsessions include writing, music, fashion, playing/watching soccer and surfing. He and fellow hobbit Billy Boyd are currently collaborating on a screenplay, which is sure to be a fun time had by all. Currently, you can catch Dom on screen, in theaters, in The Two Towers; and in December of 2004 Return of the King hits theaters, as the last installment of the trilogy.
