There was a knock on the door. She just sat on the couch for a few minutes trying to will herself to get up. He wasn’t home, he hadn’t made it, he hadn’t come home. She finally got her legs to move and she opened the door. “Angel.”

      “Buffy, can I come in?”

      “What are you doing here?”

“Cordelia had a vision. Where’s Spike?”

“I don’t know.” She started crying and fell down, her knees were shaking.

      “Buffy... can I come in?”

“Yes, come in.” She said through her tears in a heap on the floor.

“Okay, tell me what happened Buffy.”

------------------------------

He couldn’t believe it. She was standing right in front of him, beautiful as ever, in a gorgeous crimson red dress, like nothing had ever happened. “Unchain me Dru.” He said hopefully. She carried a doll with her, it looked close enough to Miss Edith, but it wasn’t.

She walked over and slapped him, her nails cutting his face in the process. Damn he’d forgotten how sharp they were. “You reek of the Slayer.”

“Dru baby, it’s not what you think.” She walked over to a table and set the doll down. She picked up a whip from the table and walked over toward him. “Dru? Princess? Baby, why don’t you unchain me love.” He looked at her as she walked over to him. She had that glazed doe-eyed look in her eyes and was smiling like a five year old. He knew that look all too well. “Dru, love, please... let’s not do this babe.” Her lips grazed over his lightly and she licked the cuts on his cheek. “Dru, babe... what’s going on here?”

“My little Spike,” he felt her pale fingers stroking him through his jeans.

“Dru love, please, not like this.” His jeans were off sooner than he ever thought possible and he was helpless against her. He thought of kicking her, but that would make it worse and he had to get out of there. What did she know? Did she know about Buffy and him? Buffy! She’d be so worried. Before he knew it his shirt was ripped off and he was exposed to her.

“So beautiful my little Spike.” She caressed his ass and down his legs. DAMN! Wretched body! His body deceived him and she giggled at his desire. She kissed his thighs and he screamed as all of a sudden her nails cut the length of his legs.

      “DRU!”

“YOU REEK OF HER SPIKE! YOU WERE NAUGHTY WITH THE SLAYER!”

      “Dru, let’s talk about this.”

“NO!” She walked away and picked up the doll she’d been carrying. He looked around the room to the fledglings that were present. Knew faces, a couple of his old minions, but the rest were new. There were ten that he could see and who knows how many more demons and vampires around. She reached the door and looked back at him. “Naughty Spike. Naughty with Daddy and naughty with the Slayer.” She nodded to the fledglings and left the room. They closed in on him and he closed his eyes to their faces and thought about Buffy until he passed out.

------------------------------

“You see? I have no idea where he is. He could’ve decided to leave and go kill. He could be halfway to Mexico by now.”

“That didn’t happen.” Angel said, as she drank some tea. Her Spike’s tea. She started to sob again.

      “What did? Where is he?”

“I told you Cordelia had a vision. It was of Spike. That’s why I came back.”

“What did she see? Maybe it’s that new vampire in town. All the other demons are scared of him.”

“Buffy? That new vampire isn’t exactly a him.”

“What? How do you know?” She stood and picked up the mug.

“It’s Drusilla.” The mug crashed and shattered on the floor.

------------------------------

He was naked. That was the first thing he knew upon regaining consciousness. He ached all over.  He smelled his own blood, mixed with his and Buffy’s cum from earlier. He smiled at the thought of their time in the bushes. He slowly opened his eyes. There was a huge window on the wall opposite him. He could see the stars, but he wondered how long they’d be there. He had to get home. He tried moving, it hurt. He was on the floor with his hands and feet shackled together.

The door opened and with the eye he could open, he looked up. “Master Spike?”

      “Jacob? Is that you?”

“Yes Sire, it is.” He turned Jacob the first time he’d come to Sunnydale and had employed him and taken care of him every time he’d been in town since.

“Jacob, what the hell are you doing?” He knelt beside him and Spike felt his hands and feet freed.

“I saw the Mistress a few days ago.” The boy pressed a cloth to Spike’s face and began cleaning him up. “She has powerful allies Sire, but they are weak to her. The fledglings are out to feed and she’s got them in her room. They go in there and don’t come out for hours. They will be busy well into the day. I saw her and asked her if you were with her. She said she was looking for you, that the moon had told her secrets about you and the Slayer. Is it true?”

      “What did you hear?”

“That you were working with the Slayer and attacking us.”

      “It’s true.”

      “Pardon me, but why Master?”

“You see any of the army boys around a while back?”

      “A few.”

“Well, they were workin’ for the government. They went around capturing demons and vampires. Some died, others were tested. I got this chip in my head that stopped me from hurting a human, so I went to her for money in exchange for information. Then I found that I could hurt demons, so I helped her a few times for money for blood and smokes.”

“Did you tell the Mistress that?”

      “She wouldn’t understand.”

“She was crazy last night, lettin’ the fledglings to you. I couldn’t stop them, I couldn’t fight them all. I’m sorry, I failed.”

“No you didn’t. You’re here Jacob and I thank you. I think it’s best that we both get outta here as soon as we can.”

“I think that’s a good idea. Can you walk?”

      “Barely.”

“JACOB!” Her voice came from beyond the door.

“Listen Jacob, this is too dangerous for you. Get out of here if you can. There’s a house near the college, it’s a Victorian, big house, go there. The Slayer is there.”

“Are you crazy Master Spike? I can’t go to her house!”

“Just go and tell her you have information on me, she’ll let you in. Just don’t try and kill her, she’s good. You couldn’t take her if you had to.”

      “Okay.”

------------------------------

She’d managed to get herself into a bath with Angel’s help. She’d been hysterical when he said it was Drusilla. Spike was with Drusilla. That’s all she’d heard. That’s all that mattered. Spike was with his eternal love and she was alone. She’d gotten out of the bath and wrapped a towel around her. She laid on the bed, curled in a ball thinking about all the times they’d made love. She’d never have that again. He was chipless and he was leaving town with Dru. It wasn’t without irony. She’d helped split them up before, and now she’d helped them get back together.

She walked downstairs still wrapped in the towel. Angel was standing in the living room. “This place is really nice. He’s got all the stuff we never had. Computer, big screen television, stereo... it’s nice, it’s really nice.”

“Willow and I have an herb garden in the back. I love this place. Or I did.”

“Don’t think for a minute that he’s gone Buffy. If he is, I’ll find him and beat the shit out of him for leaving you. I won’t let him hurt you.”

“Why? You did. Why not him too?” She started crying again and she fell against his chest. He wrapped his arms around her. His arms were so nice, she’d missed them. His body engulfed her, Spike’s frame wasn’t as large as Angel’s.

“I didn’t want to Buffy and he doesn’t either. You have to believe that.”

“No. He’s with her. He doesn’t want me, he never did. He used me before to get rid of you and he used me again to get the chip out of his head.”

“Look at me.” He put his hand to her chin and made her look deep into his brown eyes. “He didn’t leave you.” She leaned up and closed her eyes as their lips met. His lips were cold and for a minute she could pretend it was Spike she was kissing. “Buffy, stop.” He pushed her away. She opened her eyes, it wasn’t Spike. “What are you doing?”

“I’m sorry Angel. I don’t know.” Just then there was a knock on the door. “Hello?” She looked at the boy, he had dark brown hair, and hazel eyes.

      “Are you the Slayer?”

“What do you know about Slayers? Why are you here? Who sent you?” She took out a stake.

“WHOA! NO! Wait! You have to listen!”

“WHY? You a vampire?” The boy nodded. “Look, I’m having a really bad day and I don’t need house calls for fights anymore. Furthermore I’m not in the mood.”

“NO!” The boy screamed as she advanced out the door. “He sent me, he said to look for you and not to fight.”

      “Who?”

      “Master Spike, my Sire.”

“Jacob? Is that you?” Angel walked up behind her.

“Master Angelus.” The boy started trembling.

      “Relax Jacob. Spike sent you?”

      “Yes, he did.”

      “Why? Where is he?”

“The Mistress has him. I can’t talk long, I’ve gotta get back.”

      “Buffy, invite him in.”

“Why on Earth would I do that Angel?”

“Cause he has information on where Spike is and why Drusilla is here.”

She knew he was right. She put the stake back in her pocket. “Know this Jacob, I’m fast, I’m pissed and I’m a Slayer and I know how to do things with stakes you’ve never even dreamed of. I advise you to keep you fangs to yourself. Come in.” He trembled as he walked inside. “And just to be on the safe side, we can go into the kitchen and you can have some pigs blood, so you’re not tempted.” Once they were all sitting, the two vampires with their mugs, her with some tea, she questioned him. “Where is Spike?”

“She’s got him hold up in a factory.”

“Why? Why did she take him?”

“I’ll start from the beginning. I was bumming around lookin’ for a quick meal when I saw her, the Mistress.”

“First off, pardon the interruption, but in this house, she’s Drusilla.”

“Fine Drusilla was in the ally with a couple big demon types feeding with that damn doll of hers. I asked her if Master Spike was with her. He sired me a while back and comes lookin’ for me whenever he’s in town. Anyway, she started moaning about how her Spike was being deceitful with the Slayer, how he was helping you and attacking demons. She said he was being naughty and she would take care of him. She got word he was back in town and ordered the demons to catch him. She yelled at him for a few minutes and turned him over to the fledglings. I snuck in there earlier tonight and he said for me to get here and tell you.”

“Okay, what do you mean ‘turned over the fledglings?’ What does that mean? Is he okay?”

“He should be soon. He’s beaten pretty bad, a few broken bones I think, cuts, bruises, and a few burns.”

      “My God.” She started crying.

“Buffy, it’s gonna be okay. It’s gonna be fine.”

“HOW ANGEL?” She stood up shaking. “DRUSILLA’S BEATING HIM UP AS WE SPEAK!”

“At least he’s not with her like you thought.”

“OH YEAH! She’s just gonna kill him.”

“Buffy, listen to me.” Angel stood up and grabbed her from pacing. “Look at me. We’re gonna find him and he’s gonna be fine. I promise you, I won’t let her hurt him. He’s my childe and I’m the only one who has the right to kill him. Okay?”

“Okay.” She nodded. “Okay,” she sat back down to the confused childe. “Do you have any idea what she’s planning.”

“Actually, that’s the other part of my story. She was calling for me. She knew I’d gone in to see him. She sent me to tell you she’d meet you at the Carnival tonight.”

“Great... the Carnival. Why? What does she want?”

“I have no idea. What does any vampire want? To kill the Slayer and to have a meal.”

“Okay, I’m not waiting for her. Take me to her.”

      “Buffy, that’s suicide.”

“No it’s not Angel, I’m not going to sit around and walk into her little fun house at the Carnival when every vampire in Sunnydale will probably be there to dance on my body.”

“Or she’s planning for you to go there and she’s got a death trap set there.”

“I did not survive the prophecy with the Master only to die to some half-crazed lunatic Angel. And I did not go to LA with him to get your approval so I could watch her dust him either.”

“Calm down. We can’t go there Buffy and you know that and I won’t let you go.”

“I can’t just sit here and wait.”

“Jacob, do you know what she’s planning with Spike?”

“I don’t know, but she’s made arrangements for him to be taken to the Carnival tonight, so I assume he’s supposed to be there. I honestly don’t know why.”

“See? Buffy you can’t go there. He’ll be there tonight.”

      “Or he’s lying for her.”

      “He wouldn’t.”

“Why? Cause he’s got so much integrity?”

“Cause she’s a lunatic Buffy! She doesn’t get too elaborate in her schemes. In fact this is the first time she’s ever had one.”

“Okay, you’re right. I know you’re right. Okay. She wants to play, tell her to bring it on. I’m ready for her.”

“Thanks Jacob. Go back, make sure he’s okay and stays that way and he knows the Slayer is okay. And try not to mention to Drusilla that I’m here.”

“Okay Master Angelus. I won’t pretend to know what’s going on here, but I’ll do what my Sire tells me.”

The boy left. “Buffy, you should get some rest. You’re going to need it. And I’m thinking we should spar a little today before tonight.”

      “Why?”

“Cause I taught Dru how to fight and she’s tough. You can’t let her get into your mind either. That’s what happened with Kendra and you know how that turned out.”

“Right, Kendra. I owe her for that. For a lot of crap actually. I’ll be ready for her.”

------------------------------

He’d passed out again after Dru had given him a lashing of her own. She hadn’t spoken and he hadn’t tried begging her. She liked that too much. The door opened again and he hoped it wasn’t her. “Master Spike?”

      “Jacob, did you find her?”

“Oh, she did a number on you.”

“Nothing I haven’t taken before. Did you find her?”

“Yes. She let me in and I told her everything I know. The Mistress is planning on taking you to the Carnival tonight. She told me to tell the Slayer to go there tonight. Oh and Master Angelus was with her.”

      “WHAT?”

“Master Angelus was there in the house.”

      “Angelus or Angel?”

      “She called him Angel.”

“Did he seem a little angry?”

“No, he calmed her down and told her it was okay.”

“Okay. Angel will make sure she’s okay. What’s she planning tonight?”

“I don’t know, but Master Angelus said for me not to tell her of his presence.”

      “Good thinking, don’t mention it.”

“Okay, I’m going to get you cleaned up some, you should rest, you’ll need your strength.”

“I need to feed.” She appeared in the doorway.

“You’ll feed tonight my little Spike. We all will. We’ll have a nice party with streamers and songs. Miss Edith says there will be a grand party at the fun fair tonight. The Slayer will be there and all will be fun!” She walked over to him and kicked him in the stomach. “Naughty little Spike. Jacob, did my Spike tell you of the Slayer?”

“He told me of the chip and helping the Slayer my lady.”

“Helping the Slayer? Is that what he calls it?” She grabbed his hair and pulled his naked body up. “Smell him Jacob. That’s Slayer on him.” She scratched his chest, already adorned with lashes, burns and dried blood. “He lied to me. Didn’t you Spike? You said you’d kill her and you didn’t, but you will tonight, the Slayer dies.” She threw him to the floor and kicked him once more as she danced her way out of the room.

------------------------------

      “Sun just set Buffy.”

      “I know Angel. I’m ready.”

      “Are you?”

“I have to be. My mate’s life is on the line and I have to be ready.” She looked at him, “I’m sorry Angel.”

“Don’t be. Just be happy. I still can’t believe you encouraged him to get the chip out.”

“I know, but who’s right is it for some government guys to decide who gets to be good and bad.”

“One might say the same thing about some gypsies say around the turn of the century.”

“I understand that Angel, but there are prophecies about the vampire with a soul, there is no such thing written about the vampire with an electric chip. You see? It’s not natural.”

      “I know. Let’s go.”

“I just wanna leave a note for Willow. I haven’t seen her, she’s probably at Tara’s. She might come here thought. I thought she’d call, but she’s been busy.”

      “Let’s go.”

------------------------------

Dru  and her demons had grabbed him and threw him the trunk of car right after sunset. They’d driven about fifteen minutes and his face had been covered again and he’d been carried and dumped somewhere. Some of the wounds had healed, enough where he could stand with minor pain. At least Jacob had gotten his jeans for him. The room was bare, empty and dark. He slipped into his vampire visage and had a better look around the room. There was one door, but it was locked. He was stuck, no air vents or heating ducks to get out of. He had no choice but to sit and wait. He was so hungry, he could hear the faint sound of heartbeats outside one of the walls. He needed someone, desperately.

------------------------------

They walked around the Carnival for hours looking for any sign of them. She thought every dark haired girl was Dru, but they never were. The Carnival closed at midnight and it was one o’clock before they saw the first vampire. Angel dusted him quickly. The rides had been shut down, but Buffy notice the merry-go-round began turning. “Angel...” they walked slowly to it and Dru was sitting on a horse giggling.

“Why Angel! How nice to see you! A nice present. I only dreamed you’d come to my party.”

“Where is he Dru?” Angel growled.

“Why do you care?” The ride stopped and she hopped off and clapped. Just then a bunch of fledglings attacked and Buffy watched her disappear behind the rides.

      “Buffy, go!”

“I’m not gonna leave you here Angel.”

“GO!” She kicked a fledgling and ran after her.

“Do you like daises?” She heard from above. Buffy looked up and she was on the Ferris wheel. “I used to play in the daises near me house, until Angel killed me mum.”

      “Where is Spike?”

“He’s waitin’ for you. So we can have a party.”

“Cut the games and come down and fight.”

She shrugged and hopped down, landing a foot in front of Buffy. Buffy swung at her face and missed. She kicked her face but was knocked down on her butt. She jumped up quickly to face her opponent. “My Spike doesn’t want you anymore. We had a lot of fun.”

“Go to Hell Dru. He doesn’t want you.” She felt her nails dig into her cheek as Drusilla grabbed her face.

“Naughty Slayer will die tonight.” She was thrown to the ground as Dru ran into a building.

Buffy looked up at the building. “Great! The house of mirrors!” She walked in and looked around to find a dozen or more Buffy’s looking at her. She heard giggling. “Drusilla! Where are you? Come out and fight me like a real vampire.” She started walking around, trying to follow the voice.

“Poor little Slayer gonna die tonight. The moon told me so.” She sung. Buffy spun around quickly but she was nowhere to be seen. She was so close though, damn mirrors. “Naughty Slayer gonna die like the daises. Naughty Slayer.”

“DRUSILLA!” She screamed as loud as she could.

      “BETHY!”

“SPIKE! Where are you? Are you okay?”

The door had opened a few minutes ago and he’d walked out to find a room full of mirrors, in which he had no reflection. He’d just begun hearing Buffy and Drusilla. “Bethy! Where are you? Follow my voice.”

“Slayer gonna die! Slayer gonna die!” Dru’s giggling rung throughout the building.

“Bethy!” He stood still trying to gain the smell of her. He could smell her blood, she was bleeding. Damn! He shouldn’t be around her if she was bleeding, cor he was so hungry. “Bethy, get outta here, it’s a trap, just leave. I’ll be fine. Can you hear me?”

“BUFFY!” It was Angel. “BUFFY WHERE ARE YOU? ARE YOU OKAY?”

“Spike? Where are you?” She walked around, she heard Angel calling her. “Angel! I’m fine.”

“Where are you?” The two vampires asked.

“Slayer’s gonna die! Slayer’s gonna die!”

“Spike?” She turned the corner and saw him standing there. “SPIKE!” She ran to him. “I was so worried. Are you okay?”

“I’m fine, you have to get out of here.”

      “Let’s go.”

“NO! Bethy listen to me, you HAVE to go, leave me.”

“No. I’m not leaving without you.”

“Go.” He growled and pushed her away.

      “Spike?”

      “Just go.”

“Slayer gonna die and I’m gonna help!” Drusilla was getting closer.

“BUFFY? SPIKE?” Angel was looking for them.

“I’m not leaving without you, I love you.”

“You have to go, it’s not safe.” Her face was cut, no doubt Dru’s nails. God he was so hungry and he’d slipped into game face. “Go.” He pushed her away again before he knew he’d pushed her into Drusilla.

“Slayer gonna die and I’m gonna help and we’ll have a party like you promised my little Spike.” Buffy found herself being manhandled by two rather large strong demons with horns. She couldn’t move. “I missed you Spike.” She walked over to him and pulled his lips to hers, Buffy closed her eyes. “My little Spike... I’m a princess.” She giggled. “Bring in the witch.” She said and Willow was pushed into the hallway, between Spike and Dru and Buffy and the demons.

“WILLOW!” Her friend was bleeding, she had several gashes on her cheeks and arms. Buffy also noticed two puncture wounds on her neck. “Are you okay?”

“I will be Buffy.” Willow’s voice was weak.

Drusilla walked over to her and punched her in the stomach. “No talking.” Dru pushed Willow into Spike.

“What do you want Dru? Is this how you want it?”

“I wanted you my Spike, but you wanted the nasty Slayer. You promised and you lied.”

“Things change Dru, they always do. You changed, you forgot about me for Angel. I had to do something so I went to the Slayer. It was all for us baby, but you left me for that chaos demon, you kicked me out.”

“You said you wouldn’t leave and you did. And now you’ll watch the Slayer die and you’ll know.”

      “I’ll know what Dru?”

“How I felt.” She relaxed a little and walked over to Buffy and raised the knife to her throat. Buffy felt it pressing into her neck and she looked at Spike, pleading with him to do something.

Spike watched the blade pierce her skin. He knew if he went for Buffy, she’d be gone. Dru was playing. “Dru? Babe? What do you want?”

She turned to him with a smile on her face. “You’re hungry, I can tell. You haven’t fed. You need to. Kill the witch or the Slayer dies.”

“I kill the witch and you let Buffy go?” She nodded. Spike turned to Willow, who was shaking. “Why would you do that ducks?” It didn’t make sense through the haze of his bloodlust.

“Because I can.” She whispered. “Pss pss pss, the moon whispers... pss pss pss, can you hear it?” She laughed. “Kill the witch or Slayer dies.” She put the knife to Buffy’s throat. He looked at Buffy. He had to save her. He had to feed. He turned to Willow and she looked into his eyes.

“Spike, please... don’t.” She cried, she was afraid, so afraid. He’d missed it, the taste in the air. “Please...” she begged.

“Tick tick, Slayer dies...” Spike grabbed Willow and turned them to face Dru. He couldn’t look at Buffy’s eyes. He sunk his fangs into Willow’s neck. It tasted so good. Cor it tasted good, fear, pain, hate, anger, all the things he missed. He didn’t hear anything, he couldn’t see, just taste the blood, hear her pulse weakening as he drank.

She watched as he drank from her friend. The demons grasp lessened and Buffy kicked one of them and rushed to Willow. She punched him and he growled and swung at her. Willow fell to the floor and she hated him at that instant. He punched her in the stomach and she blocked another blow to her face. He kicked her shin and pushed her away. She fell to the floor and looked up at him as he flung a stake. She watched it fly over head and she turned to see it’s destination. Dru had an axe raised above Buffy’s head. The stake hit her and she dropped the axe.

“Spike?” She whispered as she crumbled to the floor. She turned back and looked at his horrified face. He met her glance for a second before turning and walking away.

“Buffy?” Angel rushed to her. “Buffy! Are you okay?”

“Willow. She needs to get to a hospital.”

      “Okay, are you okay?”

“Just get Willow to the hospital.” She leaned back against the mirrors. “Where did the demons go?”

“They’re gone, dead, gone. So are the other vampires.”

      “Thanks.” She whispered.

“You sure you’re okay?” She nodded and he took Willow. She tried to fight the tears, but they came. Once they started, they kept coming. She couldn’t stop them. She sat with her knees pulled up, sobbing into her crossed arms for what seemed like hours.

He leaned back on the wall and listened to her cry for an hour. He wanted to go talk to her, but what could he say? “I love you Bethy.” He whispered before walking out the exit door.
