The other race of gods, the Vanir lived on Vanaheim, which is on the same level as Asgard. These were more peaceful gods than the Aesir, and were more interested in fertility and growth than war and justice. After the war between the Aesir and the Vanir, the Vanir were regarded as Aesir, and they all dwelled in Asgard. Vanir means friend.
