Valkyries were commonly associated with Swan-Maidens, who were young girls said to be able to take the form of a swan. It was said that if you captured a Swan-Maiden, or her feathered cloak, she would grant you one wish. Swan-Maidens were believed to be types of druids, and would have no dealings with males.
