The sword Sigurd used to kill the dragon Fafnir. Sigurd's father once owned a great sword named Balmung, which was said to be able to cut through anything. When Sigmund died, Sigurd took the sword to his tutor, Regin, and had him make from a shard of the sword, Gram, which was said to be unbreakable.
