Fafnir started out as a human, the son of Hreidmar, and brother to Otter and Regin. Fafnir was a greedy fellow, and when his father recieved the Andvari's treasure from Loki, Fafnir killed his father and drove off his brothers to keep the treasure for himself. Being extremely greedy, Fafnir transformed himself into a Dragon/Worm/Wyrm to protect his treasure. Then along came Sigurd, (you know, that busy guy that woke up Brynhild), and he killed Fafnir using the legendary sword Gram, (told you he was a busy guy!) The Sigurd ate Fafnir's heart, granting him great strength and understanding of birds, and bathed in his blood, making his skin as tough as armor, except for one tiny little spot on the back of his neck, where a Linden leaf had fallen, (hmmm, that cant be good.)
