The leader of the Valkyries. She was a beautiful Valkyrie punished by Odin for disobedience. For her punishment, she was put to sleep within a circle of fire high atop a mountain peak. Also as part of her punishment she was made into a mortal, ( oh the horror!) She was supposed to sleep there until a human warrior rode through the flames to rescue her. And enter Sigurd. They met, they fell in love, and Sigurd gave his magic ring Andvaranaut to her as a token of his love. (Remind you of "Sleeping Beauty" for some reason?) Sigurd left, cause he had a lot to do, (hey, he was a busy guy, alright!) and Brynhild swore that she would only marry her hero who bravely rode through the horrendous flames to save her. Long story short, Sigurd dies, and at his funeral since she cant live without him, Brynhild kills herself. (Now we got the "Romeo and Julliet" thing happening here.) The two were together once again. Brynhild also had the abilities to interpret dreams, and fortell the future, ( could have saved a lot of hassle if she had just used them, no?)
