| Ten minutes to go, my hands become sweaty, my heart jumping out of my chest. Nine minutes to go, I look at my reflection, as I feel uglier and more mortified. Eight minutes to go, my legs start to get heavy, half a mile seems an eternity. Seven minutes to go, shielding my eyes from the sunlight, looking all around, paranoia. Six minutes to go, I come out into the open, looking at the sidewalk, gateway to my dreams. Five minutes to go, pausing after every step, looking back, wondering if I should run. Four minutes to go, I reach up to feel my wet eyes, trying to hide the excitement, fear, enchantment. Three minutes to go, eyes franticlly dashing, trying to calm my shaking hands. Two minutes to go, I see his tall, dark figure smiling, as time stands still. One minute to go, his eyes meet mine, as his arms wrap around, I feel his touch. Ten minutes too long, seems to go on forever, when you're walking the road, to a new beginning. |
