Where I live, the sun doesn't rise.
It falls further and further away.
My face lit only by the moon,
the darkness hiding the scars.
I'm alone, in a neverending world.
My own world, there's no escape.
I try to walk, I trip and fall.
I try to run, and I fall harder.
Left forever, to watch the light,
shimmer in the distance, fading.
The light in my eyes,
getting smaller and smaller.
If you could look in my eyes,
could you still see what used to be?
If you could look in my eyes,
would you want the things that used to be?
Before my own world opened up
you never took my hand.
If the darkness became illuminated,
would you even reach out?
I keep my eyes closed,
pictures in my head, dark just the same.
Color taken from pictures,
never to be replaced.
I'm living in my own world,
away from the life I fear,
the life you made me fear.
