Henry Ford

Henry Ford was born in July 30, 1863 and died in April 7, 1947. Henry Ford is also a big name in the automotive industry and in business history. One of the founders of the automotive industry and of one of the largest companies in the world, his name lives on in every car produced by Ford Motors Company. Ford invented the Model T car, which was the chief instrument of one of history’s greatest and most rapid changes in the life of the general public, and produced huge gains in productivity by the minute subdivision of labor, the coordination of a multitude of operations and introduction of moving assembly lines. He entered the market at a time when hundreds of companies were trying to sell their products, and in only ten years captured the largest share of the market when the Model T alone accounted for over 50 % of all auto sales. However, Henry Ford’s renown is based not so much on his autos as on his innovations in the industry, in which he introduced progressive techniques of production and new forms of relations with employees. He is also a hero among Americans: a man who achieved the American dream, who through his own determination and hard work transformed himself from a Michigan farm boy into a multi-millionaire. Henry ford is also a symbol of America’s transition from an agricultural to an industrial country.
