Westlife’s Facts

-Every time Westlife win an award they ask for four more to be made so that they can have one each.

-Westlife have been regulars at trendy nightspots Sugar Reef, the Met Bar, Titanic and the Red Cube Bar this year.

-British Prime Minister Tony Blair bumped into Westlife recently and was quick to get their autographs. "Like any Dad, he felt he wouldn't be very popular if he didn't get an autograph for his daughter" said a spokesman for the PM.

-Westlife caused havoc on Smash Hits TV recently when they stormed the studio and attacked Dane Bowers. The boys, who weren't due to appear, were just hanging with the Smash Hits team watching the Five versus Westlife debate. When Dane, arguing for Five announced that "Westlife should be called Wusslife", Bryan, Kian and Nicky donned hard man hoods and legged it into the studio to jump the presenter. A shaken Dane jokingly threatened to have his mates done for assault and later reaped revenge when he interrupted the boys' rehearsal for CD:UK, knocking Bryan off his stool!

-After appearing on Richard and Judy's This Morning TV show, Westlife decided to take the Eurostar to France! They were going to appear on the French lottery programme. They didn't take any bodyguards with them but weren't bothered by any fans at all. Amazing!

-With 7 No.1s to their name and adoring female fans all over the world, this fame thing could be going to Westlife's heads. According to Mariah Carey, it is: "Even though they are just starting out, they can get a little egotistical!", she reveals, "But at the end of the day, they're really down to earth and I hope that quality stays with them because it's such a shame when you see people who's heads get swollen out of proportion after just two hits."

-Sometimes the lads trip each other up while they're on stage just for a laugh.

-All five lads rate Friends as the best TV show.

-At a concert in East Asia, the 3,500 strong mainly female audience threw their bras and knickers onto the stage.

-When Bryan and Nicky went out for a day with their mates, things didn't go quite as planned. The twosome went go-karting with five pals and had such good fun that they ended up breaking six of the cars they were driving. The boys got into loads of trouble and were barred from the track. "It was scary being told off, but we had loads of fun" chuckled naughty Nicky.

-Bryan and Kian once dated the same girl without either of them realising. Doh!

-Westlife recently stuck up for Victoria and David Beckham. When they appeared on GMTV they told the presenter that they totally disapproved of the unauthorized biography about the pair written by Andrew Morton. "I think the book's a disgrace", said Bryan, "We don't think anyone should buy it". When the interview was over, the boys met Andrew Morton in the corridor and Shane apparently had a few stern words with him!

-The rest of the lads think Shane has the worst fashion sense.

-Westlife had an embarrassing session with Mariah Carey when they went out for a meal recently. Apparently she takes comments about her food really seriously, so when Bryan said her plate of seafood looked like a bowl of snot, she turned round and said that she couldn't eat it anymore. Mariah got him back in the end by giving Bryan a clam to munch on! Mark later revealed that Bryan had a bit of a session in the toilet later on!

-The lads once appeared on Italian TV without any underwear on. They thought it'd be a laugh to 'go commando'.

-The lads have a special routine which they go through before a performance. First they gather round in a circle while somebody says a prayer. Then they say a quick Hail Mary, count to three in Irish and finally enter the stage.

-When Shane and Bryan were asked about whether they'd follow David Beckham's lead and wear a ladies thong, they said they'd jump at the chance. Ooh!

-On their recent tour of America, the lads lost some of their belongings at New York's JFK airport. They were besieged by fans who stole jackets, bags, rings and even clumps of Bryan's hair. Scary!

-Westlife are big BSB fans.

-Westlife's end of year performance at London's top Astoria night club will go down as one of their wildest. Banned from sitting on their trademark stools the lads were forced to dance and lark around as they ran through all their hits and more. Bryan, dressed in a 'Ginger Life' T-shirt, performed the entire gig to his girlfriend Kerry Katona. Kerry, wearing a 'Westlife For Number One' T-shirt, sat in the VIP balcony with Nicky's girlfriend Georgina Ahern. A fan threw a 'Bob The Wanker' T-shirt on stage, which the guys found amusing because the children's animated construction worker was a Christmas chart rival.

-Westlife nearly caused a riot when they opened London's swank store Harrods' 2000 summer sale. Hundreds of screaming fans saw Bryan, Kian, Mark, Nicky and Shane arrive in a horse-drawn carriage. After declaring the sale open the boys headed off on a tour of the store. They were hoping to stop off at the pet department, but had to cut the tour short because they were mobbed by fans. As they posed for pictures, Westlife broke into Swear It Again and they were briefly joined by guest vocalist Harrods boss Mohamed Al Fayed who shared a microphone with Nicky.

-Westlife sometimes don't get the chance to do their hair in the mornings, but they have developed a great trick to hide that. They just stick on a baseball cap.

-Westlife were paid £2.5 million to play just seven songs at a private bash for the son of the Sultan of Brunei.

-One of the lads favourite insults for each other is "Shut up you Deutz". Deutz is Irish for stupid.

-When Westlife were on a recent trip to Australia, one of the first places they visited was the set of Home and Away. Although Shane was very excited, Nicky wasn't that impressed because he's a devoted Neighbours fan.

-Those Westlife lads enjoy nothing better than a hearty breakfast in the morning. Bryan and Nicky explain: "I always have a proper breakfast", says Bryan, "Usually I have a bowl of All Bran every morning but Nicky has a cooked breakfast". "I hate cereal", says Nicky, "It makes me feel ill. Ideally if we're not in a rush I'll have a fry-up. The full works - black pudding, white pudding, etc, etcc. White pudding is like black pudding except it's white!" "Yeah, we have all races of pudding in Ireland!", says Bryan.

-Westlife have hired a security guard. The band get so much attention these days and obviously need some extra help to keep all the fans at arms length.

-Westlife were each given a portable DVD player for Christmas by their record company. "It's good for passing the time on long plane journeys and lonely nights in hotel rooms" explained Nicky.

-At Bryan and Nicky's audition for the band they had to sing either Father And Son or Words both by Boyzone.

-The vocals in the background of Flying Without Wings belong to R.Kelly's very own gospel choir!

-Westlife have a fitness instructor who sets them up with healthy eating plans, but when they are on the road, McDonalds is usually their only option.

-All of the band (except Mark) say Titanic is their favourite film.

-Despite being dead famous, the lads have managed to keep their feet firmly on the ground. "Every couple of weeks we have a chat and make sure everyone is still grounded and that no one's got any problems" reveals Nicky.

-Following in the footsteps of the Spice Girls and Boyzone, the Westlife lads are set to hit the silver screen in a movie all about their hectic crazy pop star life. A spokesperson for Westlife said that the lads have been approached about film offers and talks are well under way.

-Before Westlife were famous, they used to play in small clubs that didn't have any dressing rooms so they sometimes ended up getting changed in the toilets.

-Whilst filming the video for Fool Again in Brazil, the crew had all their camera stuff nicked!

-Westlife once had some chocolate and a raw egg thrown on stage during an outdoor road show performance. Nicky picked up the chocolate and started eating it. When they had finished singing, Nicky said, "Whoever threw the chocolate, thank you very much indeed. It was beautiful". Then Bryan said, "And whoever threw the egg, do you think you could get some ham and cheese to go with it, please?!".

-Louis Walsh, has given each of the lads a Spice name which reflects their personalities but they won't let on what they are.

-Westlife share the same stylist as the Spice Girls and David Beckham. His name is Kenny Ho.
