Shane’s Facts

-Shane had a dream recently that really shook him up. "I had a nightmare the other night that we were doing a concert in Wembley Arena except it was in Dublin. We did the first track and there was no reaction whatsoever. Everyone was just staring at us and there wasn't a sound in the house then suddenly the whole crowd got up and started dancing on the stage. It was really weird. Our first big concert and everything went wrong. I woke up at about five in the morning in a cold sweat".

-Shane loves Christmas.

-If Shane was to advertise in a lonely hearts column, here's the sort of thing you might see: Twinkle-eyed balladeer looking for romance and fun. Aged 21, with brown hair, a decent build and nice hands. A true gentleman, funny, religious, caring and decent. Likes music, horses and chilling out. WLTM a potential girlfriend, 20-plus, natural looking, who likes wearing short skirts and high heels! Must have good hygiene and clean ears.

-Some of Shane's favourite things to do include snooker, singing, going to the gym, listening to Michael Jackson CDs, riding his horses, eating Italian food and snickers bars, driving his car and performing on stage with Westlife.

-Shane once walked out onto the stage with his flies still undone! "You just don't think about it. You go to the toilet and then you're straight on stage. I've done it loads of times at discos. I'll walk out of the toilets chatting to my mates and I'll have blue jeans on with white jocks flashing through the fly!"

-Shane has had a number of different nicknames over the years. He was called "Fishy", "Chippy" and "Burger-filling" because his family owned a restaurant in Sligo and was also known as "Shorty" at school because he was so small. Today he is sometimes referred to as "Sleepy".

-Shane's first crush was on his friend's older Sister. She was three years older than him and he thought she was the bees knees. "I was only eleven or twelve and nothing happened but I still told all my friends that she fancied me!"

-Shane had his first French kiss when he was 12. "I didn't have a clue what to do so it was a total disaster. I'd watched people kissing on Dallas and I tried to copy that by just opening up my mouth and waiting for her to do something. Luckily she'd been out with another fellow already so she showed me how it was done".

-The worst thing Shane has ever done to a girlfriend is pretty horrible. "I rang her the night we were supposed to be meeting up with each other and told her it was over. Then I snogged her best mate which caused a serious fight!"

-Shane would love to snog Donna Air, Cat Deeley, Faye from Steps and Kelly Brook.

-Shane's top five romantic things to do on Saint Valentine's Day are: 1. Send roses 2. Take your boyfriend/girlfriend out to dinner 3. Take him/her for a drive and a walk on the beach (If you have a convertible car it's good to be able to lie back and see the stars) 4. Make him/her dinner and light candles or a big cosy fire in the dining room 5. Have a romantic after dinner smooch!

-Shane can't rightly remember his first kiss because his memory gets a little cloudy with names!

-Shane loves biographies. "I don't have time to read loads of books", says Shane, "But when I do get a bit of spare time I love to read biographies of famous people. The last one I read was about Michael Jackson. It was great!"

-Shane still suffers from a knee injury that he got playing rugby. This makes every dance routine quite painful but he never complains about it.

-Shane's favourite part of a clothes catalogue used to be the ladies lingerie section.

-Shane was kicked in the head when he was little.

-Shane was once caught spying on his neighbour. She was getting undressed in the house next to his and as she went to pull the blind down, she saw the little scamp peeking in.

-Shane always used to snog his girlfriend's mates and would often go out with a girl purely for that reason.

-"I really can't go without my hair products," groans Shane. "My hair's like a fuzz ball without products - I've got an afro thing going on!"

-Before he joined Westlife, Shane used to help out with the cooking and washing up in his parents restaurant in Ireland.

-Shane's favourite colour is black.

-If Shane wasn't in Westlife, he'd be studying accountancy.

-Shane celebrated his 21st birthday at the exclusive club Lillie's Bordello in Dublin. Bryan did the DJing and Kian and Shane were the last to leave - they were still there at 4am.

-Shane was once caught flashing on the beach....well, almost. He was changing out of his trunks when some girls walked by.

-When Shane was little, he owned a soft toy cat. He loved it to bits, but he used to hide it from his mates when they came round to his house because he thought it was really embarrassing to own.

-Shane was nearly done for speeding  - he only got off because he sweet talked the policeman (or so he says anyway!)

-Shane takes size 9 shoes.

-Shane's favourite part of his body are his hands.

-Shane never goes to bed without saying his prayers. He tries to go to church on Sundays too. "If I miss a week, I feel really bad" he reveals.

-Shane's family have 40 horses. They all have the first name of Carlton after the family restaurant. Shane's favourite is called Carlton Flight.

-Shane's high point of the band's Australian tour was when the guys took a boat trip around Sydney harbour.

-When Shane was 16, he went out with a girl for a year and thought he was in love for the first time. But when they broke up he didn't miss her and he realised that it couldn't have been love. "I hope that when I do fall in love it's incredible", he says.

-Shane once wore the same pair of pants for three days running. Yuck!

-Shane's car is a silver BMW 3 series which he bought when RCA paid the band for their record deal.

-Shane never really relaxes on his holidays. "I rarely sit down and do nothing", he says. "I don't like lying there getting a tan. I prefer to be up and doing something".
