Series 17 Episode 22 - Edel Brosnan - 8/2/03
Lara deals with a woman suffering from an overdose of beta blockers, though she does not remember taking them. It turns out that her boyfriend's jealous daughter put the pills in her coffee.
When Duffy reports Ryan missing, the police confront her with quesions about his past that she is unable to answer and she realises that she knows worryingly little about him. Her day get worse when she discovers that Ryan has cleaned out their joint account and that she is now seriously in debt.
When Charlie discovers that Jack will not be coming into work he immediately replaces him on reception.. Enter Bex, a sassy, no- nonsense blonde with attitude. She breezes in and promptly puts her foot in it by ridiculing Jack infront of his brother Tony and girlfriend Nikki.
Dillon and Colette are both up for Duffys old job but when Colette is given the promotion, Dillon finds it hard to have to answer to her. When he goes a step to far Charlie is forced to warn him to stop undermining Colettes authority.
Simon is struggling to come to terms with Janes revelation but it is clear that he cares deeply for her and he resolves to learn to turn a blind eye.
Meanwhile, Tony and Ben decide that their night together was more than a one-night stand and they end up kissing in the staff room.

Harry spots a boat in trouble whilst on a sailing ship. He finds it full of asylum seekers and goes to help, but regrets his actions after discovering he has saved the life of a murderer. It's Duffy's last day, and Ryan leaves her to enjoy her leaving party with her friends. After the police pay Jack a visit following a statement from Jason, Eddie convinces Jack that the only option is to leave the country. When Nikki finds out she tries to stop him, but the only alternative Jack can see is for her to join them. Nikki refuses, and watches as Jack leaves with Eddie.
