| Hurt The One You Love Series 17 Episode 34 - Steve Griffiths - 3/5/03 Gabrielle Glaister (ex-Brookside ) guest stars as Christina, an alcoholic patient, this episode. Christina, in hospital for alcoholism, finds herself caught in the middle of a dispute between Jane and Simon. Meanwhile, Eddie has contracted MRSA septicaemia, and Jack is totally dumbfounded when he is told that the only thing keeping his father alive is the ventilator. After Harry confirms the diagnosis, Jack prepares himself for the worst, but he takes out his anger on his brother, Tony. While Jack waits for Eddie to pass away, he concocts a story about Tony�s loyalty, unaware he is being watched. Colette is also caught unprepared for bad news. After having a routine scan of her baby, she learns that it has club foot, which she is terrified may indicate other abnormalities. Merlin doesn�t cope well with Anna after her shocking revelation. First he suggests they stop working together and then wants to resume their relationship. Anna refuses to contemplate his suggestions. In anger,Merlin confesses to Lyn that Anna has ruined his life � twice. |

| Getting Through Series 17 Episode 33 - Catherine Tregenna - 26/4/03 Lara proves herself to be cool under pressure when she is caught in a life-threatening situation. While trying to treat an injured man, his son is spotted with a gun hidden under his jacket. Eager to impress his criminal father, the boy brandishes the gun at Lara and then turns it on himself after he panics in the face of armed police, resulting in tragedy. In the commotion, Tally and Harry patch up their problems. Merlin is given a shock when he learns that Anna is his half sister. Stunned, he is unable to confront her over the secret she�s just revealed, leaving her to sob inconsolably. Jack is also distraught when his father, Eddie, wakes from his transplant operation with septicaemia. Eddie morbidly reveals that he has stashed money away in the event something happens to him. When his condition deteriorates, he is rushed away for emergency treatment, and Jack is left to contemplate his possible death. |
