Donald's nephews HUEY, DEWEY and LOUIE were the brainchildren of Al Taliaferro. They appeared for the first time in the Donald Duck Sunday Pages, on 17th October, 1937, written by Ted Osborne and drawn by Al Taliaferro. In the daily strip the boys, sent to Donald by their mother (Donald's sister Della) first stayed with their uncle for a short visit, but eventually returned to live with him for good (the reason for this development was never declared). | Donald's rich uncle SCROOGE (MC) DUCK, created by Carl Barks, appeared for the first time 1947 in the Disney comic story 'Christmas On Bear Mountain'. Born 1867 in Glasgow, Scotland, Scrooge earned his first dime as a 10 year old in 1877, and three years later he left Scotland for America. In Klondike, a small golddigger town in Alaska, he found his first gold nugget. After he had earned his first $ 1,000,000, he bought Killmotor Hill in Duckburg, where he built his famous Money Bin which is also his home. After years of hard work and saving every cent, his fortune has grown to 6 Fantastillions, and Scrooge has become the richest duck in the world. On Christmas Day 1947, he finally met his nephew Donald and grand-nephews Huey, Dewey and Louie. Since that day, Scrooge and his nephews have experienced many great adventures together. His greatest menace are the Beagle Boys who never stop trying to burgle him, and the evil Italian witch Magica di Spell, who, since 1960, has tried to relieve Scrooge of his Number One Dime - but without success. |

Donald's cousin GLADSTONE GANDER is the character who is lucky all the time. This luck is so unnatural that it often amazes the reader how far it can go. Donald, driven by jealousy and envy, regularly tries to play nasty tricks on his cousin, which unfortunately often backfire. Gladstone, created by Carl Barks, first appeared in 1948 in the Disney comic story "Wintertime Wager". He has a soft spot for Daisy Duck. Except once, he's never had a job. |
