I still don’t know why

No one knows the real me

I’m not who I appear

This life is a true fantasy

I could have been different

In oh so much strife

Until this place rescued me

And turned around my life

I lost all the old

To find something new

I tried to be myself

But was rejected by you

I changed my style

And ditched the real me

I had to find a character

To suit your personality

I never regained the lost friends

They only saw my skin

I had a snobbish style

So they never looked within

I know you’ll never understand

The person locked in me

I dislike this new character

But it’s what you want me to be
