Lost
By Casey
I stumbled across the darkened street
Hot asphalt burning my injured feet
The moon glistens in the night sky
And I feel that I should just die
What have I got to live for?
In a land never to be free from war
There is no one left to go on with me
So perhaps I should just let it all be
I hide while those soldiers patrol the land
In a building where children were banned
Only now it is a destroyed and empty shell
My country has been turned into a living hell
There is no reason for these men to be here
The don't care for us, never shedding a tear
We are the wounded owners of this city
Never going to receive anyone's pity
Apparently we are the bad ones in this fight
The people who caused all the spite
Now they are angrily striking back at us
While putting up an enormous fuss
I thought that I was safe in my warm home
All the love and affection that I was shown
We had earned all that we possessed
And now it's all gone, I must confess
