Richmond Heat

A warm muggy evening
A night race in store
Some bumping and banging
And a whole lot more.

It started out smooth
Not much trouble at first
But as the night went on
The driving got worse.

Rusty was strong
Most of the night
Ricky was good
Although he was tight.

DJ, oh well,
Them engines aren't that great
Time to go back
To ole Mr. Yates.

Tony came charging
Hard and fast
Patience of drivers
Sure wouldn't last.

Cautions flew
In the night like a bird
And we could only imagine
The drivers' words.

Under ten to go
And Tony leading
The caution flew and
Fans were pleading.

They threw the red flag
To clean up the track
Action we'd see
When they got the green back.

A really fast finish
Tony Stewart wins Richmond
Then he polish victory lapped the track
Honoring a fallen friend.

And in victory lane
With reporters he met
Telling them
"He learned from the best".
