Miroku is a nineteen year old young man who is in desparate search for a female (preferably his species) to bear his child. He needs an heir that will kill Naraku and get rid of the curse in his hand. The curse, or "kazaana", is a hole in his hand that when unleashed will suck up anything in it's path. He seals it with rosary beads. Eventually, the hole will become too big and will swallow not only everything around him, but himself too.

To sum it all up, Miroku is basically an oxymoron. He's perverted, yet he's a preist. I always found that really funny.
