TRADITION

When we talk about our tradition, we are realy talking about our being as a group of Ibo speaking people of eastern Nigeria. The Ibeku Traditions and Customs, Music, Song and Dance History, Folklore, Myth and Legend, Traditional Ways of Life, modern reviews, Traditional Diary (Whereto go and what to do on which occasion) and more are things that need preserved.

We have costodians of these traditions as a group in each Seven clans called EGWU ASAA that make up Ibeku. These seven Clans are Osaa, Amaforo,Ndume, Afaraukwu, Emede, Isieke, Afarata. Each of these claans has an Eze that is titled accordingly with its own name to reflect that clan. Ibeku Egwu Asaa also has one overall King titled the
OGURUBE IBEKU . The Present Ogurube is His Royal Highness.Eze Samuel Iheonu Onuaha. The Ogurube IV of Ibeku. All the other Ezes from the seven clans make up his cabinet.

One of our biggest and well rooted tradition is the respect given to elders. Ibeku located in the eastern part of Nigeria .Umuahia Ibeku, Abia State Nigeria has show cased,it's pride, two of their well known sons  for President,General J.T.U Aguiyi-Ironsi and Dr J.O.J Okezie.
