William MacFarlane Crawford served in the Royal Navy.
William was a Boy 1st Class on board HMS Hood.
On 24 May 1941 HMS Hood was sunk by gunfire from the German pocket battleship Bismark. A shell penetrated the upper deck armour and detonated a stack of ammunition causing an explosion which sank HMS Hood instantly. William was lost in the sinking.
